Hi all
I recently bought a Denon 1612 and a Wharfedale 9.5 (its a 5.0 setup. dint buy a sub-woofer.. Global Financial crisis :o )

when i connected it in ma home with the factory settings,it sounded very bad. I tried running the Audyssey setup and found it better.. but nothing like i heard in auditions. Do help me out in installing my amp. and about the options in ma AV receiver i cudn bring the HT guy to ma home though. so i think now i have to DI-mYself.

Input is PS3->Denon 1612->wharfedale 9.5 towers,9cs center , wh2 surround

My room is 16*12 with the FR,center and FL towers on the 12 foot wall.

Am pretty much an amateur to HT thingy. so please do help me out..

Thanks..

yup.. i auditioned wit a 1611 and a 1911(dint find much diff though)
and then with a marantz stereo amp and a onkyo receiver.
Marantz was a killer.. Onkyo dint fair upto Denon..
I also auditioned with Anthem. It had more power and had more punch.. But was lackin somethin. I don know.. I liked marantz better.

Yes setup is the Key in all HT packages. I am not sure where to start up with. i have not used Audessey, i can try and help with few points.

1. Since you do not have subwoofer set SUBWOOFER:NO
FRONT:LARGE

2.Set all the respective speaker distances from the listner

3. A lot depends on what you are trying to play and what is the source you are using. Download some demo reference songs like Hotel California, you will get lots in the internet and play.

4. Make the Front L & R speaker to +3db if you feel volume is low, but not more than that.

5. Also if you feel bass is low there should be a Db level for treble and bass which you can set to +2 or +4 db and check.

6. Audition packages will have all the expensive equipments connected togeather which may sound better, for example a sound from Marantz cd player is going to be lot better than that whats coming out of ps3. But sound quality should not be too low that makes u feel something is a miss. Also your speakers will need a break in time, before they open up.
