** Denon AVR-1611 : Owner's Thread **

How much higher sensitivity will work OK. Also, how less sensitivity speakers will have issues? 1611 supports both 8 and 6 ohms. Let's say a 6 ohms speaker expecting 100watt amp? For 6 ohms speakers 1611 can deliver 110watts which is pretty decent ratio, I guess.

Also, what is the EQ used in 1611 in India models? I just noted on this brochure that it has no mention about Audyssey Multi EQ nor AutoSetup Room EQ. Also, is Multizone missing completely in Indian model?

http://www.sightandsoundindia.com/pdfs/AVR-1311.pdf

Whereas the US denon site has both Multi EQ, Auto setup room EQ and Multi zone mentioned.

Hi,
Was just checking out Denon1611 on UK website, and noticed that the receiver has pre-outs for Front Heights as well. Is this available in the Indian version of the AVR as well? Does this mean we can use the normal 5.1 setup, and along with that add Front Heights as well??

Also, hows the 'restorer' function in denon 1611? I read on the internet that it really improves the sound of compressed audio files like mp3. Is this really true? Does it really make a difference? Isnt the sound detail lost when audio is compressed?

If you read this portion from the first link,

"For example, if speaker X has a sensitivity of 86 dB and you want 110 dB of loudness, you need about 250 watts to drive them. The first thing to check is the manufacturer's spec for power handling of those speakers; if they cannot take 250 watts (peak), you cannot use them."

In my case I have 86dB speakers and Amp rated 125watts. But I cannot go above 80% volume level because the amp cuts of speakers. This is probably because the speakers can take a max 100 watts. Everything OK till here. But the statement in the link says in order to get 110dB loudness the 86dB speakers has to be driven with 250 watts; does that mean even though I play 86dB speakers at the max rated 100 watt I am not getting 110dB loudness? So what am I missing? Is it only the loudness or some details in the sound?

If the speaker combination is the culprit for the screeching as mentioned in the review then blame has to go for the speaker combination and more importantly the way the review was done with out proper equipment combination. Am I right? If so the screech sound is not a problem from the AVR as described by the reviewer.

Now this is complicated as one need 80 to 100 db for HT purpose.Speaker sensitivity is measured from 1mtr with 1w power(roughly)
Speaker Sensitivity - What is Speaker Sensitivity

Now if power is doubled,db gain will be only 3db-
Home theater, decibels, speaker setup, speaker sensitivity, surround sound.

again sensetivity is measured from 1 mtr in quiet room.If you sit 3mtr(10ft)apart,that pressure will be less(if measured by SPL metre). So you need more power,1w is not sufficient eventhough sensitivity is 90db.Now you need to increase the wattage & calculate accordingly.

So you can use the link posted to calculate wattage, you will get the answer.

No comments on this by the 1611 owners??:(

Hi,
What you have seen on UK website is the same available in India. US versions are different.

The Restorer function works very well, it has three steps 1,2,3 & OFF. Absolutely there is a difference when you engage it to 3. :clapping:

Hi guys can you advise me what reason is there to get the AVR 1611 over the AVR 1311? the price difference is 6k but power output is the same.

@Zeeya - I am not sure if you are doing justice to 1611 by running it off RM6750, not sure about ur listening preferences... but then you need to sync it with the likes of Jamo, Wafr, Dali etc... This is a good AMP, I have the last version 1610....

Hi,

Any idea abt Jamo s426 going with Denon AVR1611 ?

THanks & Regards

Is it possible to configure the pre-outs for Front left and front right. I would like use external amplifier for Front Left and Front Right speakers.
I want to connect other speakers to speaker ports.
ie
Center
Surround Left
Surround Right
Surround Back Left
Surround Back Right

Thanks for this valuable post.

Did anyone check before opting for 1611 , the differences between 1611 and 1911.

I can see 1911 has upscaling n upconversion both , how much difference this will make ?

please post your valuable inputs .

Apologies if I am taking the thread in some other direction.

Thanks & Regards

rajesh.....

Basically 1911 is a 7.1 receiver and 1611 is a 5.1 receiver (it has got pre-outs which can be used to make a 7.1 setup).

There are some more differences as well. You may go to Denon UK website to compare the features of these two models

IN the lack of an official Denon 1911 thread (I could actually create that one).... can I join this one?

Need advise on Denon 1611 vs Yamaha 467

Hoping to buy receiver and have narrowed down to either Denon 1611 or Yamaha 467.

Will connect tv setup box, media player box, blu ray player. Mostly watch tv or movies from media player. Not so much music.

I'm a low tech person. Like Graphical User Interface.

Any advise which set is more suitable given my profile?

Thks in advance!

Check Audio settings of FireTV and set it to Dolby Digital. By Default it would be possibly on PCM
