Denon X3000 from Germany- Need advise

Hello fellow FMs,
I have decided to buy the Denon X3000 after much consideration between Yamaha RXV 775 and the Denon. I am in Stuttgart, Germany for next 4 days.
The Denon is coming to Eur 550 and the Yamaha is 70 euro cheaper. I am still open for advise between the two.

However, coming to the real question and concern now is both these AVRs are crossing the 35K limit of goods brought in from abroad for custom exemption. How much will I be charged @ customs? Can I pass through by passing the buck? let me know if you have had similar experiences or have knowledge.

It will be sort of a miracle to get away without paying the custom duty. How much will that be depends on your luck. People have had different luck.

If this will be the only electronics with you, you may get lucky. But mentally you should be ready to pay some duty.

When i got my TX NR 818 from kuwait, it was 43K value in Kuwait... Luckily my friend escapaed without paying tax as this was the only Electronic item that my friend carried along with him...

I instructed my friend to pay any duty if the officer had asked...But a year back, they were concerned abt TV & they never bothered abt AVR...

A friend of mine bough Onkyo TX NR 626 from Dubai for 28K... He was stooped by an officer & was asked to pay duty... My friend refused to pay as this item was very well within the limit of 35K...After one hr arguement, the officer let it go without any duty...

The officer was considering the price of 65K in India & subtracted the 28K there & asked him to pay duty for remaining 35K hyeah: This is where my friend refused.....

So as Ranjeetrain pointed out, it is Pure luck...

Only one receiver shouldn't be a problem. Try to come well dressed and wrap up the Denon carton with plain brown sheet if possible and walk thru the green channel it should be a smooth sailing. Even if they hold you the duty is not going to be exorbitant a passive approach to the officer will benefit you. I have brought many things like this. Especially arrival from Germany in no issue.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I finally got through without paying any duty!!!
Actually it happened like this...I had packed the avr without the carton as it wasn't fitting-in in my baggage but Ofcourse with all the other packing material which came inside the original box.

When I arrived at bangalore and collected the bag at baggage counter I saw they had put white horizontal lines with a chalk piece. They had just marked them very lightly and were small 3 inch lines.

It was 2am with hardly anybody around. With that I simply walked out with no question asked luckily ;-) I think they also didn't bother much however I was prepared to pay the difference which would not have been much I guess.

And btw I finally got the onkyo tx-nr636 the one which has just been launched and I paid 499 eur. It is yet to be launched in India.
