I have a very very different requirement. Some may find it weird but somehow I have setup my mind on this combination, so please bear with me and assist.
I am writing my end result here, please assist me with what to get and from where:
I have the following:
1. 500 GB FreeAgent SeaGate - Movies / Music collection
2. 1 TB GoFlex Seagate - Movies Collection
3. Lots of DVD & some BD movies in discs.
3. Old IBM Thinkpad R50 laptop with 512MB RAM and Windows XP
4. Denon 1912 AVR
5. Jamo A200 + A210 sub
My planned final setup:
Laptop:
1. Some software which is simply a catalogue of my movies with IMDB data / posters and optional fields for my own custom comments. I am willing to install any OS on this laptop if it helps. I found YAMJ for movie cataloging interesting. More ideas are welcome.
2. Torrent setup on this laptop for movies.
Android Phone:
Some Android app for my phone to have this movie catalogue synced. I dont want to view movies on my phone, just have access to this catalogue.
How will I use this:
On this movie catalog on my laptop, I will create an index of all movies in different drives and show the location accordingly.
Question: Any way I can watch this catalogue on my TV itself?
When I decide on a movie, I shall look it up on my phone and know which drive has this movie and attach this particular drive to the Media Player and watch the movie.
In case the movie is a DVD / BD disc, I shall get the disc and play it.
Where am I stuck:
1. Which media player can support this? Media player should support ALL formats. Where can I buy this? What is a good price for this currently?
2. Any media player with built in disc drive? If not what external drive can I use? Where can I buy this? What is a good price for this currently?
2. Which movie catalog can support above requirement? Need IMDB info as well as custom fields. Need Android app for this as well.
3. Which OS should I install on my old laptop to install above movie catalogue software?
4. Which Android app is related to this?
