Elenco FM-88K DIY FM auto tune radio

Weekend and last evening completed assembly of Elenco FM-88K radio kit. It is an auto tune radio based on TDA7088 ic with LM386 for audio amp. About 2.5 hrs work and it was singing. No complicated tuning of IF or Oscillator.

Have to guess what station it is. With good reception conditions it pulls in stations as far as 200plus km.Added a larger 3inch speaker in a cardboard box and it sounds good too. Included speaker is tiny and tinny sounding. So discarded it.

if you could procure let’s see TA7343 than TDA7088 radio will be stereo. Connect the audio out to 7343.

This is what I had done with my TA2003 and CXA1691 radio boards back in the days.

There are other decoders but not used.

It is on my radar but getting spares in Abu Dhabi is a pain these days. Not many do DIY perhaps.

Subbu68, if there is a line out, you can try with a powered speaker. Is that telescopic antenna supplied with the kit? Cheers.
