Have you ever been bitten by the relentless vicious infectious wallet flesh consuming bug known as the upgrade bug and lived to tell the tale?

Tell us how!

I am presently fighting it telling myself anything I get now will be useless if I have to move away for masters!

Lol, a true 5 star thread :)
First step to fight upgrade bug -- you must stop visiting audiophile forums.
As you can see you have already failed the first step

Edit: @krishpiscean you beat me to it :annoyed:

Resistance is futile

Stay away from Hifivision and other AV forums for a couple of weeks. That is the best way to fight it and keep your wallet happy.

The less you read about AV.
The less it makes u wonder what u are missing out with your current setup.

thats great

sir
jokes apart

fighting the bug depends on your priorities

Always ask yourself
How much music do i really listen to
How critically do i listen to it
How much time and money do i invest in buying new music

you will know yourself - what kind of system you SHOULD have rather than what you DESIRE to have

my wifey has given me an advice which is next to impossible...keep away from HFV wesbite and their local HFV meets:lol:

Really....the whole blame goes to HiFiVision !!
The day I was searching for Onkyo home theatre reviews on internet, I came across this site. I didn't bother to go through many threads and bought the entry level Onkyo 22-HDX. Yeah... the HT I bought is quite impressive for my small room; but day by day, I'm getting mad....ohh man....why shouldn't I have bought something else ?
You guys are relishing all those great stuff and I'm still learning ABCD.
To be honest, my future is not going to be smooth and I still haven't got a well-wisher wife like "krishpiscean" ;-)

Hi all,

A quote which I read somewhere:

"The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it", :indifferent14:

This bug is totally resistant to all forms of treatment. As a doctor I know that even the latest and costliest antibiotics wont work here!
The patient is doomed for a lifetime. staying away from forums is not a cure. Sooner or later the disease relapses!

Buy whatever you want where you go.
There is really no reason to buy if you are not gonna listen to it.

Not at all feasible.
The conclusion always is, "You will listen to more music when you have a better system to listen to".

And, once you are exposed to a higher end system, somehow you can no longer listen to your current system peacefully. Symptoms range from ultimate rejection to finding fault more often.

.

sorry i dont subscribe to this
i know a couple clients who listen to music with PC speakers and a phillips 2 in 1
Im 100% sure they have listening capabilities and knowledge about music far more than clients who own full blown systems
they definetely listen to a whole lot of music too

i have seen many a times ( especially in car audio)
the upgrade bug is more of a self satisfying show off bug

What's your point?
According to your questions, these guys should have upgraded to greater heights?
Or are you saying, since these guys are doing well with PC speakers, everyone should?

Not everyone buys stuff for show-off. If that is the case, everyone will be buying systems that will attract you in the first attempt, like the bose for example.

I agree that you should not buy for show-off, but there is nothing other than that I can take from your post.
