any one use this fiio DAC in kolkata
I am not from Kolkata but I can give you a good account of this R2R Dac. I have good exposure to bengali music which I picked up during my engineering days in kharagpur IIT.
Fiio R2R will give you sound signature of a good R2R Dac.
If you use this to listen to non-complex music like Ghazals, Rabindra Sangeet starting from Hemanta Mukherjee to current stars like Srikanta Acharya, Songs of kishore kumar, Lata ji, Rafi ji, Udit Narayan, Abhijeet and modern songs of Hemanta, Sandhya Mukherjee etc you will get 95% of what Laiv Harmony, Terminator 2 or Holo May dac can give you. You will just miss out on the sweetness of Laiv Harmony and Holo May and bit of resolution of Laiv Harmony, Terminator 2 and Holo May dac
But if you use it for Bass heavy music of Arijit Singh or Rock music, you will get 85% of what a top end R2R Dac can offer you. Instrument separation and detailing will be a limitation of Fiio R2R dac will be a limitation in complex music. You won't miss out on the vocals but yes you would on the high voltage music.
Given the cost of Fiio Dac it punches with Dacs at around INR 1 Lac.
Now if you have warm speakers like Harbeth, you will not miss out on the warmth part in non-complex music with this Dac.
