Hi guys,
Got a kit from here -https://www.quasarelectronics.co.uk/Item/smart-kit-1215-stereo-line-level-audiophile-preamp-or-headphone-amplifier

Now I have not even picked up a solder before.

So my questions are
1- do I need to read electronics theory basics or can I just start soldering.
2- which one of these goot is good ? -http://www.lynx-india.com/index.php?categoryID=7856
3- manual says -The only tools needed are a soldering iron, small cutter and a tweezer. The soldering is included in the packaging.
So what else and from where do I buy these?
4- is this kit good to buy? -https://www.quasarelectronics.co.uk/Item/710368-electronic-tool-set-25-piece
5- or is this better? -https://www.quasarelectronics.co.uk/Item/710362-electronic-tool-set-11-piece

Anything that you can suggest?
I guess I will need to learn some soldering basics.

Thanks.

I want to keep it high quality so for that I will need silver roll. But cant find online.
Why do we need paste flux?
Also is this good? -http://www.ebay.in/itm/Amtech-Syringe-Type-SMD-Tacky-Soldering-Flux-Paste-10cc-RMA-100-UV-/271471334072

if you prefer tube like sound with minimal diy effort TNT preamble is nice one i can guide u to with locally available parts !
TNT PreAmble - DIY solid state stereo preamplifier [English]

if you want i can give you veroboard layout(where to place what , u can make it easily after that ) , just buy components in 1 day you will have pre running
dont have to spend in USD...

the fet can be 2SK170 which is excellent for audio replacing 2N3819.If you are in bangalore you can have a check of the Sine wave response on my Scope using my Function Generator , to be sure no clipping etc there

any one wants to make Tnt Preamble may freely ask me for help

1. Since you have already purchased n received your kit, I dont see why you should put down more money on another kit.

2. Since this is your First project, I do not recommend spending money on silver solder. The difference it will make will be FAR smaller than the difference in the Wires and Cables used internally and externally.

3. You have not Specified your Geograpical Location....

My sincere recommendation is that you locate another Forum member who knows soldering n kit building and visit him. Use him as a mentor and ask his help in assembling your kit.

Welcome To A Super Hobby !

Silver solder does not make anything sound better. You could use 63/37 lead solder as it melts at a lower temperature. The usual lead solder that you get is 60/40 . It also costs more than 60/40 and usually not stocked in the local market. It is however made in India. You need to ask/order it . However 60/40 is fine for most applications and easy to get. I have 63/37 and 2% silver solder . But after using it for a few projects I couldn't find any difference in the sound. So I use 60/40 most of the time.

@koushik - you mean matching the input output voltages right? Well, isnt a line level output from a preamp of say 1.5 volts compatible with most amps? To answer your question - I dont have an amp right now but I am in the process of getting one.

@IndianEars - I hope i meet a diyer in lucknow. But chances seem slim. I know its a very very generalized statement but not without some disappointments do I say that the attitude here is nawabi with youngsters preferring hookas and the tweaking spirit is not to be found. Thanks for the welcome.

WBT rolls I keep from ebay ..300-Rs or so silver 3% does not hurt pocket

but basic 60/40 is almost same (silver is just a feel good factor)
one sure shot way to get better quality ::
swapping with Analog devices faster opamps gives remarkable quality differences
AD712
Also the LME audio opamps
AD845 KN --one of my favorite locally available
