floorstander for the budget minded

dont u think 50k is beyond budget minded peoples range

Unless he is going DIY, for someone who is looking for a good pair of FS, 50K is! This is when looking at an imported speaker, no comments on Indian made since I havent heard any. Real benefits are heard with higher priced stuff like PSB and Dali.
There are barefly a couple of FS which are worth buying 'within budget', one of which is the one I mentioned. Infinity has been doing this, selling a few stuff at a low cost and doing them with good quality.

actually 'budget minded' may vary ,based on peoples perception...

most tight $ starters keep in 20-30k

As Teja pinted MS carnivals are magic ,also aviano in this

I would say if one really just wants the FS for music and just music alone and can shell out that 50 grand.... Lyrita Audio Harmony One is the way to go. Hands down winner for me.

There is one noted emission here that I feel must be on one's to-audition list under 50k.

Klipsch RF series - Apart from a tiny bit of harshness in the upper range, there is nothing I can fault these speakers with (at that price point). They offer resolution, handle power well, go low. In short, they do most of the things well that one would reasonably expect from a speaker at that price.

Higher the budget, more the options as per your listening preferences.

Here are some budget floorstanders that I auditioned not so long ago (around 50 K). and my views

1. Heco Victa- amazing clarity. Highs and awareness of the brand may be concern for some
2. Monitor Audio - BX5/BR6/BX6 - Very balanced. Some may find bass a little higher.
3. Kef Q500 - Nice clarity. A little sharp though
4. Mercury V4 - Good VFM. Too sharp to my taste
5. Paradigm - Balanced...bass is hardly visible

Ultimately its a gain some-loose some when finalising a speaker and how it sounds to you also depends on what music you listen to!

I believe Paradigm Studio 10 is one step ahead of KEF Q300.. Right ?

They specs are completely different...

The studio 10 is a different TYPE of speaker.
Their cabinet is smaller and so are the drivers (5.5inch vs 6.5inch)

The Studio 20 can be of closer comparison to the Kef Q300.

The Studio 10 uses 2nd order crossover at 2 khz while the kef q300 uses 1st order at 2.5.

I would say the studio 10 would be more of a nearfield monitor while the kef Q300 would be better for a medium sized room. A first order crossover is also more revealing than a 2nd order so clarity of the Q300 as a cohesive speaker is probably higher for it's price point. However the Studio 10 / 20 would have a thicker midbass sound and playful listening experience while the q300 would be more of a velvety textured transparent experience.

The harmony one is not suitable for electronic, trance, lounge, house, modern pop, vintage techno and large orchestral music with tiny minute details in the tracks.
In the blade runner soundtrack nearly all subtle details were missing in the harmony one driven by tube monoblocks.

That was some very good explanation for the crossover.. Thanx corElement

But i believe Studio 10/20 have non parallel sides cabinet which makes them a league above parallel sided KEF Q300. I don't know much abt this, but after reading abt this topic, i learnt that Non - Parallel sides have advantages over regular parallel speakers...(Cancellation standing waves inside the abinet )

May be because of the above reason, most of the high-end speakers for any manufacturer are Non-Parallel ?

Also they seem to have good freq response

For Ex Paradigm Studio 10/20 have around 50Hz - 25khz +/- 2 db where as KEF has around 42hz - 25 Khz +/- 3 db.

No war here as which is better sounding.. Juz trying to understand the technical specifications...

When a speaker is rated +/- 2 db On & Off Axis response, i hope they would have better performance.
