FS speaker suggestions in Bangalore for new setup

I have the RX6 5.0 for sale. They are very good speakers for the price and have convinced me to upgrade monitor audio's platinum series as I really like their sound signature. They are slightly on the brighter side and pair very well with my warm sounding Sugden Mystro amplifier. The sound stage and imaging is decent. The bass is tight and the mids (helped by the amp) are so good that I am listening to lots of vocal music lately :). I mainly play rock (and jazz now) at low to mid volume. You can check the reviews at whathifi and stereophile.

Thank you. I am curious about these speakers too and will give them a proper listen-in next week. I will contact you if I feel they match my amp and speaker cables. If your speakers are still available then, we can discuss them.

Thanks for that. I was told by one dealer I had called (can;t remember who) that Wharferdales / B and W / Polk are more for cinema sound than musicality.
Don't know if that is the case, but will audition them. Ta!

Dear,

If B&W ,Polk and Wharfdale folks can see the comments made by dealer they will certainly die of laughing...
Every brand has separate line of cinema speakers..so..this dealer is talking shit..and trying to sell you the brand which he keeps...

1-believe on your ears(take auditions)
2-check the guy in forum who has same amplifier

pairing of systems should be carefully done. it depends on personal taste of music...this audiophile world is very much big..after choosing your system...there are number of things to do..
speaker cables
connector
power supply
DAC

So inflate your budget accordingly..

Cheers and Best of luck..

You can try Epos at Reference Point, Indiranagar and MA RX6 at Audio Planet behind Koramangala BDA. Audio planet also has Mordaunt Short speakers which you can also try in A/B with Monitor Audio speakers. Mordaunt Short are also pretty good although I preferred MA > MS when I heard them side by side. B&W are also good and musical but are highly over priced in India. They are the Levi's of speakers :).

Thanks for that, Dheeraj. To be honest, I am very new tothe hi-fi world and even some of the names that are dropped so prolifically all around this forum are new to me. So, I am rather naive in thee matters and rely on 'experts'. It is annoying when they misdirect. But have got a lot of help from this forum, thanks for all that.
I will try all the speakers in that range personally when I am back and then make my judgement. I have, however, taken a punt and bought the Rega amp based solely on online reviews (hope i dont regret that). Anyway, will ensure I do the proper auditioning for the speakers.

Thanks Mowgli, I will book some auditioning slots at these places the day I return... ta!

Thanks for that tip. I noticed the sale offer of the RX6. I am trying to chk the reviews and feedback online but do you have any idea of the musicality and performance of the RX6s? Are they better suited for movies rather than music? How do they rate on mids and bass? Anyone please?

imo the rx6 is the best speaker in its price range. ive never seen an unhappy owner. pairs well with neutral to warm amps. doesnt pair so well with brighter amps

HI guys,

Thanks for all the tips. I have been auditioning the speakers suggested. Have listened to MA, MS, Tannoy, PSB, Whaferdales, Q-acoustics, Magnat and Polk with my Rega Brio-r..liked some and disliked a few. But when I heard the KEF Q500 with my amp, I just knew this was it, fell in love with the music. I knew I did not have to look further. Am well pleased.

However, I just needed some advice on the pricing of these speakers. I auditioned them at ProFX, M.G road, Bangaalore and loved their service, so that helped in the decision too. The price they quoted as MRP was 70K and the discount price was 61K, which they say is the lowest they can do. My haggling skills are rather minimal, so that didn't help either.

Anyway, I notice that the price suggested in other threads in this forum for the Q500s are around 55K, but these prices are from almost an year ago. Have the prices gone up or am I being ripped off? Either was my heart is set on them KEFs. Please tell me if I should look for other dealers or sellers of the same? or should I try to get a better deal? If you tell me the price is right, I will order them today.

Thanks in advance.
