Metadata of downloaded music is pretty poor when it comes to telling us anything more than the basics like album title, track title, and artist. Physical media, on the other hand, had all kinds of additional information. LPs in particular, are able to show off the album cover artwork, there are liner notes as well as information regarding who actually played on the record, who wrote the songs, who produced the record, etc.

Give Fans the Credit is an initiave by the Recording Academy (that is the organisation that distributes the 'Grammies' every year) and some high profile producers and pop stars. Give Fans the Credit wants to get all that information stuffed back into our file-based music and they're running a petition that you can sign to show your support:
