Its 500 GB. Good enough for few days of programming (if you could cope with inaccurate scheduling and quality of SD channels).

Have anybody tried connecting it to PC/Media player? Can it br used as Ext HDD?
Its a regular SATA HDD so you could certainly use it for such applications. However, I found some apps to rip Sky+HD recorded content to PC (copy+ and extract+). Have not tested it on TS+HD.
I forgot to inform - seems only 350GB is used for PVR and rest 150GB is reserved for VOD! I asked the engineer if there is any way I could utilize that 150GB, he said its not possible.

could you share the apps for copying the recorded material to pc? and if the hard disk is regular SATA can it be unplugged from the set top box manually and connected to pc using a SATA cable?

I have not opened the box (sticker at the back), however if you could run the SATA cable (and preferably power cable - for common ground) to the HDD, you should be good.
On a side note, only FTA channels could be ripped which I believe TS is anyway ripping and encrypting from broadcasting end (as I have indicated for all the DD Direct+ Channels). So only thing we might be able to try is to use Copy+ to copy to a higher capacity (eg 1TB) drives.

Do you guys know that Tata Sky+ HD comes with a black mesh antenna that prevents reception issues during rainy seasons by not allowing water to be retained on the antenna surface. Check out the pic.
I was not aware of this when I installed my STB and now I have raised a complaint with Tata Sky customer care. Have anyone else faced similar problem?

Please refrain from flooding the forum with the same question on multiple threads. People do face rain outage with all DTH operators (with varied levels of experience). Not sure if this antenna can help in anyway.

I read somewhere that TataSky has plans to upgrade to mp4 technology.
Will the current STB work then? Is it worth spending on the equipment like tatsky+ now or is it already future proof?

Yes, Tata Sky +, Tata Sky + HD and new regular STBs support MP4.
And TS HD. Also, their current breed of SD STBs with component output should support MPEG4 as well (not sure).
I have seen this news about 2 years back. Unless they switch, there is no way they could improve quality of SD channels which currently seems WORSE than most (if not all) of the DTH providers.
