My local Yamaha dealer has offered me a 5.1 AMp +5.1 bookshelf combo at 38K. Sound seemed decent. But, I am not sure. I don't know whos is the manufacturer? there one chinnese company uses panda name and makes TVs etc. But, their site doesn't list Amp or speaker. The dealer also has Panda floorstanders.

There is dealer website -

Choudhary Trading - Digital Home Theatre Components and Hi Fi Components

Amp model is Av-445E, which is not on dealer site.

The speaker he is offering are this,

.PANDA AUDIO
..PD - F36

PD - F36
Main Front Channel Speakers/ Towers3 way speaker BASS REFLEX SYSTEM
13cm Doped Cone Woofer
13cm Cone Bass Mid
Range 10cm DOME TWEETER
Input Power (Max / Nominal) 150/ 75 W RMS
Frequency Response 40-20000 Hz

If nybody, having any idea about this, Pl enlighten me.

Regards,

Yogesh.

I would rather suggest a Onkyo 5105 or a Yamaha 363 combo (YHT195 for 20k + mission m33 for 13k) couple with capable 5.1 system within the same budget. Most chinese stuff are bad when it comes to manufacturing quality (though even the high end plasma, LCDs etc may have been manufactured in China but quality control varies) and I do not knwo if you can get them repaired if something goes wrong. Stick with known and easily available components man.

are you sure panda is from china

i have met mr choudry
hes got a shop in lamington road
as far as i know he makes the amps and speakers in india

the amps are ok .
i found them so so
the satellite speakers are decent
i think if one wants only inidan its a ok choice

cranky
did you hear the white satellites ( i forget the model)
i didnt find them that fatiging

Have also visited the shop
Definitely nothing hi-end and I don't think they claim that too...
The sats are as good as ones made by Pace or Telome if not better

Recently the shop is half closed - ie front end is converted into computer shop and Behind on a counter Mr. Choudhary sits,
JUST FYI

I've heard Panda's 2.1, at the Music Shop in Khan Market, N.Delhi, which shut down over a year back.
The sound was definitely "non hifi", too sharp, too boomy.
Stay away is my advice too.
