Hathway HDS6300 volume control

Hi, my Hathway HDS6300 feeds into Micromax 42" LCD TV.

1. How do I set the default volume on the set-top? When switched on it defaults to a LOUD volume level.

2. Why are volume levels different based on channels? Some channels have very low audio, and some in higher range. How can I make all of them equal?

We have been living with the 2 issues for almost a decade now.
