Folks, I'm planning to buy a receiver which has HDMI 1.4a out to TV.

My current TV is a stone-age Sony Bravia (June 2007) KLV32V300 - very old one which is 'HD Ready' - that is it can accept up to 1080p but the physical panel resolution is 1366 x 768 not full HD.

I'm currently using HDMI for my Blu Ray Player and Airtel DTH, which are both running absolutely fine (I'm assuming both will be HDMI 1.3).

I hope the HDMI out from the receiver can handshake with devices running on older versions of HDMI and there no backward compatibility limitations...

My LCD is HDMI 1.3 & I have connected my AVR with HDMI1.4,also BDP 1.4 without any single issue.Yes its backward compatible.

Videocon D2H / Airtel is 1.4 I think since they claim future 3D support.

Whatever these DTH providers claim, doesn't make them true. (They even claim 7.1 Dolby sound, without a single instance on any platform)
I have Airtel and it was provided with a low cost HDMI 1.3 cable, however that works absolutely fine. Though I upgraded to a high speed Belkin HDMI 1.4 cable and there seemed no improvement at all. There have been no issue at all if we upgrade the HDMI cable.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
