Firstly, warm greetings to everyone on the forum!
I travel a lot and am crazy about music and movies. I have been collecting AV gear with my dad from the 90's.

I signed up for the forum coz I'm in dire need of some help. I've recently moved to a new address. While shifting I've damaged the power key of my Yamaha DSP-A1000 Amplifier/DSP.

There's no physical damage as such. There's a spring that is behind the power button which seems be missing when I opened up the chassis. I tried to manually turn the tiny power button on and was successful in turning on the amp twice or thrice. However there seems to be no output from the amp on any channel. The rest of the functions are working fine (display, front panel buttons etc.).

Does anyone know a technician who specialises in Yammy gear in Mumbai? I've heard there are some guys on Lamington road. Are they any good? Trustworthy?

Any help will be greatly appreciated as this amp means a lot to me coz it belonged to my father. Its been with us for years and has served us faithfully.

I've never had to repair AV equipment before coz I take real good care of my stuff. I hate myself for having damaged one of my most prized possession.:sad::sad:

Again, I would appreciate any help. Is there anyone who can bring this baby back to life?

Hey there!
Welcome to the forum. Hope you have a pleasant stay while with us.
Now coming to your problem. Can you share some images? It would be helpful to seasoned gurus on the forum who can then advise you accordingly.
While you're searching; here's the service manual for your amp : http://www.sportsbil.com/yamaha/DSP-A1000.pdf

Thats all I've got. Hope this helps in some way to bring back your monster Amp. I'm sure there are some really experienced members on the forum who can help you! Best Of Luck! :)

Thanks sir!
I'm really depressed. This was one of my best amps. How could I be so careless while packing.
Anyway, no crying over spilt milk I guess.
Anyone there who can help me out please? I'll take the pics today and upload them.
I could take the amp with me and go to a few places but this thing is like 20 odd kilos!! :(

Thanks a lot @20kHz!
I've PM'ed fellow FM 'ethan'. His last login was in July so don't know when he'll respond.
I'm gonna go to the Yamaha service centre today and try to find out if someone there can help me. Fingers crossed!

Hello all!
Sorry I couldn't update you on the progress of my quest to bring back my amp.
I'm sorry to inform that the amp is dead as I had shorted a few "key components" that are now irreplaceable in my attempts to salvage it. :'(
One of the very few amps which played music as well as it handled movies. Hope I can find one again in a similar condition.

Thanks soo much! How kind! :)
The seller is a dealer. Sells used stuff for profit. I enquired and says that amp works fine but did not answer some other questions. I have asked him to share pics of the original product. Let's see.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
