Hi Friends

I have settled upon these avr's Denon1200 / Yamaha v581 for HT setup

Also let me know options for 5.1 setup
(out of these 6 speakers, i need front towers 2 SPEAKERS) not bookshelf

In range 60 to 80K,

100K if VFM is good

Any suggestions...

Suggest that don't be in a hurry to build your system. Buy 2 Fronts and Centre.

Then add surround and sub-woofer as when budget allows. You can also be opportunistic in looking at good deals on for sale section of the forum. Since you are based in Delhi , there will be opportunities for buying quality pre-owned gear.
Good luck!

I am in dehradun for job. So olx/quikr/hifi ad from delhi is a problem, as i have to personally check them, my parents cannot do it :)

And i only come to delhi once in 3 months, projects....

That means in 100K i cannot get a decent 5.1 system :( my room is 10x18.

My usage 40% ps3 games / 40% movies / 20% music - all on a subtle volume...

awaiting suggestions for 5.1 , else LCR setup....

Hi,
You can opt for Denon 1200 or 520BT along with Pioneer AJ 5.1.
This is by far the best and cheapest option out there with fronts as floor standers!!
The approx cost of 520BT is 33K, 1200 is 43K and AJ 5.1 will cost you 53K. I guess you get all the items delivered to your home with shipping free. I had taken a quotation from a dealer with the above rates and shipping free about a month back.
Hope that helps.

Another option is Sonodyne. You can get Sonus 2605 V3 (bi amp), Sonus centre, Sonus bookshelves and Roarr 210 for 72-75K. It's an indian brand and real VFM stuff although few people complain about their After sales service.
I recently bought two set ups and I am quite content with the performance. These are powerful speakers so you need a better AVR. Pair it with a Denon 1200 at least.

Take a demo and decide accordingly ..

Hi,
I had taken the quotation from HTStore for the whole package. Not sure if they will give the same discount for the AVR only.
No harm in trying ..
Someone had also mentioned about Fairdeal Electronics Mumbai offering great discounts ..
Contact both and bargain hard ..

Any particular reason for why not bookshelves? A combination of a good pair of bookshelves and a Sub can out run any tower upto the mid segment. Popular brands on this forum for speakers are KEF, Q Acoustics, Dali, Polk Audio, etc. If self audition is not possible then you would have to first check whats is locally available in your town or what can be delivered there. From that shortlist, check the views of FMs and online reviews.

Amazon has some models of KEF, ELAC, Polk Audio, JBL, etc. If they deliver, then it would be a good idea to short list from that list in my opinion.

good suggestion on brands.
i got polk tsx 440t 1 year old last day.
now getting confused for avr, as forum members some are saying denon 1200x is not powerful enought for these speakers,

note apart than polk 440t pair, i will use centre from polk, subwhoof pioneer,
and 4 surround satellite type JBL

pls suggest avr in range of 40 to 50 apart than denon 1200x and yamaha v581, which are good for 5.1 and powerful enough to drive above setup of 7.1

Congratulations. There is an OLX ad too for this model. Did you buy the same ones?

I see no reason why the amp should have any trouble powering these speakers upto moderate levels.

Destiny I am sure. Now get an amp soon and enjoy them. Any amp rated at 80w or above at 8Ohms should be able to drive them to moderate levels.

What is this 80W+80W ??? technical stuff, pls make it easy

Hi this is denon1200 maunal data, what does it mean,
why there are two 8 and 6 ohms options, can i shift in avr between these 2 ohms settings..... what will be the use of these two ohms settings

I have polk TSx 440T as front speakers, which i believe is 200 W (correct me if wrong) can denon 1200 run it properly ?
Audio Wattage 200 Watts , Wattage 200 Watts

Front:
80 W + 80 W (8 ?/ohms, 20 Hz 20 kHz with 0.08 % T.H.D.)
120 W + 120 W (6 ?/ohms, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)

Center:
80 W (8 ?/ohms, 20 Hz 20 kHz with 0.08 % T.H.D.)
120 W (6 ?/ohms, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)

Surround:
80 W + 80 W (8 ?/ohms, 20 Hz 20 kHz with 0.08 % T.H.D.)
120 W + 120 W (6 ?/ohms, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)

Surround back:
80 W + 80 W (8 ?/ohms, 20 Hz 20 kHz with 0.08 % T.H.D.)
120 W + 120 W (6 ?/ohms, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)

Yes. It will play fine as long as the volume knob is not cranked up too much. 6/8 ohms are a standard. all AVR's rated at 8 ohms will run 6 ohm speakers. its 4 ohm speakers that you need to worry about when playing with an 8ohm AVR. AVR wattage ratings are dubious most of the time.

The 6 ohm numbers are pretty useless. At 1Khz and 0.7% THD, it makes no sense.
8 ohm numbers are the max it can sustain through the channels at any given time, but not simultaneously.
If there is content on all channels, then the output will be closer to 50Wpc.
The AVR itself consumes 430W of which the circuitry consumes about 40W. The remaining is what is left over for amplification, thus 50Wpc.
But in movies, there is never any scenario where all channels have similar load requirements. And you will also have a sub eventually.

In any audio amp circuit with speaker load, the content is presented as a voltage, the speaker reacts with an impedance (or in simpler terms resistance).
It is up to the amp's P/S section to deliver the current to sustain the amplified voltage, else it will lead to clipping.

So you are still OK unless you crank up the volume. Trust your ears, if your hear distortion you are in danger zone.
All of this is academic, it will still boil down to your room, source and content.

Cheers,
Raghu
