Hi,

I need to decide on either 1611 or 1911 to get it from Singapore.

I know 1611 is 5.1 and 1911 is 7.1. It doesn't matter to me much.
Both support DTS, upscale video etc.

1. What are the main benefits in upgrading from 1611 to 1911 considering that 1611 is 18K and 1911 is 28k in Sinagpore.

2. Pls suggest good connectors for my above HT setup. I only have HDMI cables from BD to LCD.

P.S: This is to connect to my Energy take classic 5.1

TIA

other differences are between 1611 and 1911 are:

1611 1911
output : 75W vs 90W
HD Radio: NO Yes
Analog Audio Inputs: 5 7
Video Select Control: NO Yes
Assignable Amp config of Surr Back Channels: No Yes
USB Flash Drive Port : NO Yes (for HDD or IPOD)
Video Conversion Analog to HDMI: NO YES
HD Radio Tuner Built-in: NO YES
OSD: NO YES

Apart from these there might be a few very minor differences.
Since you pairing it with a take classic both should be fine in terms of power.
However, if you plan on upgrading to towers in the future and dont plan on using an additional amp, then I would suggest 1911.
Otherwise 1611 is also good enough.

Cheers :)

Hello,

I have decided to go for the DENON AVR 1612.

My room size is - 17 ft x 12ft
Listening preference - 70% Music ; 30% Movies

Kindly suggest :

1. Floor Speakers - (Make and Price)
2. Woofer/Sub - (Make and Price)
3. Satellite speakers - (Make and Price)
4. Centre speaker

My Budget is @1,00,000/- for the whole package (5.1)

P.S. - I have the cabling for speakers already in place.

Thanks for your inputs.

Manoj

Hello,

I have decided to go for the DENON AVR 1612.

My room size is - 17 ft x 12ft
Listening preference - 70% Music ; 30% Movies

Kindly suggest :

1. Floor Speakers - (Make and Price)
2. Woofer/Sub - (Make and Price)
3. Satellite speakers - (Make and Price)
4. Centre speaker

My Budget is @1,00,000/- for the whole package (5.1)

Denon 1911 (A/V reciever) - Rs 32,000
Wharfedale 9.6 (Front Towers) - Rs 35,000
Wharfedale 9cs (center Channel) - Rs 11,000
Wharfedale 9 DFS (Rear dipole) - Rs 11,000
Subwoofer(Klipsch SW 450/ wharfedale SW 150/Velodyne Impact 10) - Rs 23,000

------------------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL - Rs 1,12,000

These are appox prices but with cables etc should work out to around 1,1lakh or less. Since you are considering the Denon 1611 it will be in your 1 lakh budget

This is definitively a VFM setup

Denon's compliment the Wharfedale 9 / 10 very well . However I feel the 9.6 is way better than the 10.5 having heard and used both. the 9.6 dedicated midrange as well well as bigger woofers (8 inch x 2)
the 9.6 is comparable to the 10.7 similar specs except for the larger woofers on the 9.6
Infact with the 9.6/9.5 you could do without the sub for a some time and save on some quid.
A fellow HiFiian member has reviewed the 9.6 very well please take a look at the review

The 10 series is a newer series and there has been subtle changes to the cabinet design and some addition to bling on the cone surrounds etc. Sonically very little to differentiate between the 9 and 10.

However i would suggest that you audition the 9's as well as the 10's and decide which one you like better. bec at the end of the day what sounds nice to your hear may not sound nice to mine and vice versa

CONS of the setup i mentioned above
- The Wharfedale 9.6 front towers are fairly large, if you don't have the space for it, you can look at its smaller siblings or Good bookshelves from other brands
- You may have cops knocking on your front door for violating sound norms
