As I described earlier, foobar in my windows 8 is working perfectly and in windows 7 not.
This problem is not related to version of windows rather it is related to drivers of your laptop. either you have to reinstall drivers or reinstall windows that is the only solution IMO.

I was saying DPC latency checker has issues on Windows 8 (not foobar). Foobar works equally well for me on both Win 7 and 8 (discounting OS differences).
I can see this laptop is so slow even scrolling through menus, start bar and changing mouse position takes time. May be I need another system. I have a mac too, any player I can use in Mac that won't screw things up like iTunes ? iTunes can't play FLAC
Then it's not a foobar specific problem. Laptop is too old perhaps. I'd still suggest before giving up do a fresh installation from the original disk that came with the laptop and try again. And don't install anti-virus if you'd only use it as a music PC. The laptop should still be more than enough for playing music.
