Hi Everyone!

I am looking to build a Hi End home theatre system for my living room here in gurgaon..

Amplifier: 5.1 Channel 4K & 3D Pass Through (i have a 4k UHD TV)

AMP Player : high definition video and audio from players that read virtually every disc format. Plays Blu-ray discs,DVDs and More.

5.1 speakers -- like Wharfedale quality.

Anyone from Gurgaon/Delhi can suggest me anyone who can build above configs... Please tell me expected price range...

Hello Sunny, you will have to mention your budget first, then it will be easy for others to suggest. Also please mention your room size.

Hi Brajendu,

Thanks for your reply..

Budget would be around 60-70K, can be stretched a bit.

Room size -- 25x14

Hello Sunny
I think it would be useful for you to read a lot of reviews of high-end equipment and listen to some systems as I don't think you would be able to purchase any single high-end component with that budget (unless of course it is in USD, in which case my apologies).
High-end is certainly a relative term, but I honestly think perhaps you have not got enough information on the breadth of equipment that is available - not even worldwide....just in India nowadays.
I mean to encourage you to look broadly, not to discourage you please.

Hi Sunny,

You need to decide many things before FMs could suggest you the suitable options:

e.g. your preference for speakers FS vs bookshelf vs satellite. Usage - Movies X% or music Y% etc.

You can visit the following places in around Gurgaon to get an initial idea and audition:
Metropolitan mall MG Road Gurgaon
Bass N Treble, Ghitorni
Sight and Sound, MG Road, Ayanagar

I would suggest you to visit these places and know what is available in your budget and how far you want to stretch your budget.

Do not buy in your first visit and take a couple of round of auditions before finalizing on any thing.

Happy hunting

Vinay

Hello Sunny,

for such a big room, I m scarred that you would get anything high-end (even in Indian context) in the budget.

Just a good enough AVR will cost you more than 50k,
+
5.1 speaker set may start not below 50K
+
BR (with Media Playing facility) may costs 15k or More
+
Please spend 5-6k for Cables

I hope you'll get a fair idea, but my comments are just indicative. Please visit few showrooms as suggested by others.

I too spent good amount of time on similar budget..
out of the shelf product doesnt suit the bill here, my suggestion would be to go custom. I might have some suggestions for you, drop a note and we may connect offline to share my experience: [email protected]

Thanks Everyone for you valuable suggestions/comments. Really Appreciate!!

let me be more specific and forget about budget constraint. i know good things are priceless ;)

please suggest me the best in the category which suites to my specifications.

================
- Bookshelves Speakers - Boston Acoustics OR Tannoy OR Wharfedale

- AVR : 4k, 3D, HDMI2 (Future proof for 4k, i think any future 4k disc format is likely require HDCP 2.2 and HEVC. [UHD content shot at 60fps])

- Player - To play all available formats and future ready.

Thanks a ton in advance!

Will you guys suggest
Moviestar DX-1 HCP - 67,000

DX-1 is marginally better than MS-100 HCP. If you have a small room MS-100 shall suffice your needs. Other decent 5.1 packages worth mentioning here are:

  • Wharfdale MS-100 HCP (?39000)

  • Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1 (?23500)---This one is best bang for the buck at the moment.

  • Energy RC micro (?47100)

  • Polk Blackstone TL1600 (?42000)

Thanks Guys...

too many choices.... i think i need to visit some stores now to check the actual sound quality..

Any store in gurgaon where i can test most of the speakers given above.

also it would be good if you can just shortlist the best in class...

thanks in advance! :yahoo:

Anyway what my suggestions are
1) Fix ur budget - and find TYotal items costing 80% as 20% will be required for cabling , some small componants etc
2) REad - Read and Read
3) Know what are ur requirements
4) Visit many dealers
5) Ask questions here
6) Bargain
7) Do not use the word "high end" in front of dealer - or they will show cables costing lack .. and ur budget will go for toss!!
