Hi Performance - Bookshelf!

Well done Bibin/Bijin,

Await more creations to be unveiled in the near future. As asked by others, do share the foll info:
1) Complete Specs
2) Cab Dimensions
3) Cost (Kit & fully assembled) if you intend to offer as such

Best Wishes

:)

Hi Bibin/Bijin: can you please post a pic of the back of the grilles?

I would do one thing "better" [IMO] the next time. IMO, the side to side braces are too far apart from each other and the ones at the back seem to be placed too close to the back wall. I think, the four braces need to be closer together and form a square [more or less] and need to be aligned such that the midpoint of the "square" is aligned towards the midpoint of the height of the sides. That way it will more effectively brace the center of the cabinet which needs it most.

It was an amazing piece of craftsmanship.

I always amazed by sound signature of Proac and ATC SCM 7/11 speakers. But the cost is keeping me at bay. Is it possible to make similar sounding speakers in India?

Quite impressed with the build quality of your speakers. If you can make a speaker sounding similar to ATC, it would be a privilege for me becoming customer

I am also waiting to hear from our FM Glen (glen7x, banglore) for his detailed review after audition.

Dear Bijin,
Unibox simulations with TS parameters of M16GJ shows a suggested box volume of more than 60 ltrs . How did you manage with 17 ltrs? Also, How did you manage to equal the impdences of Tweeter and Woofer?

I am not confident if I can do justice to these beauties with my words. Not much of a wordsmith myself. You really have to hear these.

I reached Bijins and Bibins place on last saturday. The speakers wew hooked on to their system. Gave it a listen. Let me be honest here, I was not impressed.
I have been playing music for the past 10 years and yes I love my BASS. That would be one of the reasons for my initial impression.
The Mids were clear but then the bass wasnt deep to my liking. So well I said to myself that I need to add a sub later on. I did not tweak any eqs there, one reason being the fact that I had just reached Cochin after a 10 hour drive from Bangalore hence was a bit tired
The build is quite good. Have seen some custom speaker builds, but these ones are notches above them. Bijin had sent pics earlier and I was waitign to pick these up.
Thanked Bibin and Bijin and started home. Reached and hooked them to my AVR, HK 1610. This is when the speakers take a complete 180 degree turn.
The bass produced are 'phenomenal' to say the least. crisp highs and clear mids. Made me think if this was the same pair I heard an hour back.I would rate these better than the Dali's that I auditioned a while back. more, since they costed twice than these beauties.

PS: My AVR has conked off again. Switches off after about 30 mins again. It definitely doesnt like travelling :). Have sent it to service again. Fingers crossed.

Thanks,
Glen

Many times system matching and room can play major role in optimal performance. In my case, when I change my speaker position, direction, even in another room ,they sound very different with same system.

Hi Glen,
As you've mentioned "again", I assume that it's a recurreing concern.
Or, is it because of the new speakers? Any impedance overload issues?
Hope your AVR is alright by now! :)

BK

its with HK service.
Earlier the service center told me that one of the power circuits went open maybe due to the travel from US to India.
I checked with him, he said its working fine now with his speakers.

Got the AVR baqck from HK service. They did not charge me this time around. Kumar, the person at the center told me that one of the circuits had opened up and hence causing he issue. This is fixed and yes enjoying it now. Coincidentally AVR was ready just as I moved to my own apartment. In the process of setting up stuff.

Re: High Performance - Bookshelf!

By turning the mid woofer by 90 degrees the width of the cabinet can be decreased a bit which will give a sleek look to the cabinet.

There is a reason for that, keeping the tweeter and mid-bass as close as possible will improve imaging. The other way can only add up to the cosmetic appeal.

Just saw this. In my opinion, the woofer frame is designed just to accommodate what murali_n is suggesting. If the intention is to bring the tweeter closest to the mid woofer, a better way would've been to make a concave cut on the tweeter mounting plate.

Just some food for thought.

Your are right. BTW it can be achieved either way and i choose the easiest approach since i don't have any intention to make the cabinet width look slim.

Note: Cutting the face-plate to make it concave is not a better way since it needs to be cut precisely and obviously it demands time and effort. Alternate way is to over lap the woofer's basket over the tweeter.

Yes precise cutting is an effort but I was sure you could do it and yes, overlapping the woofer basket over the flush mounted tweeter is a better option.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
