Room Size 10x18

This is the maxiumm amount I want to spend on each component

Speakers bookshelf = Rs 40,000

Speaker Stands = Rs 7,000

Stereo Amp = Rs 30,000

CD player = Rs 20,000

Speaker Wires = Rs 2,000
I need 10 feet in total

RCA cable = Rs 1,000

Please point me in the right direction

Hi,

Marantz CD6003/PM6004/Dali Ikon-2/ Speaker stands contact magma Forum member/IC-Chord Crimson Plus- see Profx website/ Speaker cable Chord Campana.

Hope this helps.

In pune - visit Sound and Vision and check out Advance Acoustic amps and cd players. Also, spend more on the amp. It will get more out of any budget speakers, but, a poor amp will make better speakers also sound bad.

Thank you Murali, I bought the KEF Q300 a couple of days ago, I have not finalised on the amp. Hoenstly I dont like the Marantz PM6004. I feel the KEF would do better with a better amp. I founf the Marantz 6004 to be big on vocals and small on soundstage. Maybe ive got to spend time auditioning it again before i get to any conclusion

Also think of Marantz with Kef Q300, MA BX2.

I audtioned several speakers and bought the KEF Q300. I prefered the B&W 685 though but had to let go of it because of the cost.
I have the KEF Q300 at home now hooked up to a Pararsound hca-750 amp for the time being. Synergy is bad. it is too bright. although I am middle aged I am still sensitive to higher frequencies

I did check out Advance Acoustic at Sound factor and I liked them quite a lot. I will be taking the KEF over the weekend to see the synergy.

are there other options for a integrated amp. I am willing to increase my budget to 50k for a stereo amp
I have had bad experiences buyng used products in the past and I am not open to it

Cambridge Audio Azur 650A (one member is using with KEF Q300).

Also, audition Yamaha AS500.

KEF is a tad bright. Something like NAD should suit it but I personally don't like anything too warm.

I am not too keen in NAD. I auditioned the 326 with a couple of loudspeakers. I found the lower freq to be exaggerated. its just my perception and I could be wrong.

I am looking for something that is neutral. I like detail without the highs rolled off or the lows boosted

I will check out the Yamaha AS500.

How does Advance Acoustic compare to the usual suspects
NAD, Marantz, CA, Yamaha etc ?

Advance Acoustic is pretty good, I heard them around a week ago at Sound factor paired with Revel BS, Dali etc.

However Synergy with the KEF's is important. So I have no idea how they would mate. Carry your speakers and give them a go.

on a 50k budget
you should seriously consider some pre owned stuff

The NAD or Denon will pair well with the KEF but with 50k you can probably do much better

(if its a NAD that you want then heres a good deal
http://www.hifivision.com/sale-owne...er-amp-behringer-active-crossover-cx2310.html)

there can be a lot of tube gear also that can be had ( pre owned ) if you like to go down that path and willing to wait till something comes along

now if youre willing to up your budget to 1.75 lacs
theres the top of the line refenrence AMP by yamaha as 2000 plus its matching CDP cd2000 that can be had( new with bill and warranty )
price only if you buy the package
absolutely fantastic deal if you ask me

Call me old fashioned but I am not too keen on going in for a preowned amp. I have had nasty experiences in the past.
The Yamaha AS2000 amp + CDPis way over my budget. I dont think the KEF Q300 will do justice to either of the components

Unless offcourse I sell the speakers and get something better like Dynaudio of BMW CM Bookshelves

Hi Zwischen,
1. Was your KEF Q300 among the above "couple of spkrs"?

2. What kind of music do you generally listen to? (Apart from the amp, your CDP choice will will also depend on your music)

3. I believe you auditioned KEF Q300, before you purchased. What was the back-end gear driving them?

Let me know, so I /other members can suggest something.

Hi Zwischen,

No it was not. I heard the NAD with B&W, Quad, Wharfedale and Dali. With all i found the bass bloated. Its my perception again. I am looking for a more even tone

2. What kind of music do you generally listen to? (Apart from the amp, your CDP choice will will also depend on your music)

I listen to Englsh only music, Classics from the 50's - 60's artists like Engilbert, Jim reeves, Patsy Cline, Skeeter davis, Trini lopez.
I also listen to Jazz and Blues.

the KEF Q300 i had auditioned with the Lyrita amp. dont know which model number and Cyrus CDP. I prefered the B&W 685 with the above mentioned combo but because of a 50k quoted price. I stepped back and settled with the next best thing KEF.

Any idea how much Lyrita amps cost ?

Hi Zwischen,
See my comments in blue below:

SS: I've didn't find B&W 685, and Wharfe 10.1 to be good choices with "warm" amps like NAD either. But do give the KEF + NAD amp + CA CDP combo a try before you rule the NAD amp out.

SS: Considering above music, replace the CA CDP with Arcam CDP in aforementioned combo. Don't hesitate to tray Marantz CDP. With NAD amp... it may sound good to your ears.

SS: Hell, with Cyrus CDP & Lyrita, ANY spkr would sound good! Ok.. ANY decent spkr ought to sound good ;)

Any idea how much Lyrita amps cost ?
SS: No idea, but I've read only good things about this amp on this forum. Others can chip in reg cost.
