High Quality CD Player using PC CDROM Drive

ATTENTION of DIY experts.

Is this possible? PC Drives are quite cheap and I was thinking that if one does this, one can simply keep on upgrading the transport after wear and tear of the transport.

Has anyone tried doing this?

This is a kit available too. Any comments on the quality that can be achieved?

Something similar should be available for SATA drives too. Additionally there are SATA to IDE converters available
