I have a 3d Projector Benq TK850i and DLP-Link 3d glasses that supports it.
Also have Media Players - Kodi on Firestick 4k and Potplayer on Windows11 Ryzen PC with Nvidia 3060 GPU

I have ripped 3d movies in Half SBS format in mkv container and also a full remux in ISO container. I tried playing them in both Kodi firestick and Potplayer in windows11 but it always shows in side-by-side dual screen and not overlapped single screen that can be viewed through 3d glasses.

What am I missing? I tried googling and searching through other forum posts but most results are either too old and outdated or not working for me. If anyone has any experience playing 3d content on their DLP projector, any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Did you try with a 3D demo reel or something like that? If you're getting that in 3D, the problem should be in your source material.
I don't have 3D in my projector but I have watched projected 3D played by Pot player. IIRC two settings need to checked. In Video menu >> 3D, "3D mode" set to "side-by-side" and then 3D playback must be enabled in Advanced options. Tryout these options.

Cannot comment on Kodi, but there must be some plugins.

As others said, need to turn on 3D mode in projector. Also in plot player there is a setting which need to change for 3D.

In kodi player there's a option to switch 3d mode of your movie. Change to the mode which your projector support

The video might help

You’re not doing anything wrong, the projector just isn’t switching into its 3D mode automatically. Half-SBS files always display as two side-by-side images until the projector is told to convert them into 3D.
Go into your BenQ TK850i menu and manually set 3D → Side-by-Side (SBS). Once that’s enabled, the projector will merge the two images and your DLP-Link glasses will sync normally.
ISO/full 3D won’t trigger auto-3D either unless you’re using a dedicated 3D Blu-ray player, so manually selecting SBS is the easiest fix.

For all 3D enthusiasts,

There are very limited options to play 3D ISO files.
1. Buy a dedicated media player that supports 3D MVC/ISO playback. ( Ex-Zidoo Z9X Pro). Price 30k in India, 18k in US
Dune stopped 3d support. You need to buy a old player.

2. Custom Raspberry Pi 3B+ box with libreELEC 8.2.5(old Kodi). Process is tedious but works. It sends frame packing signal to your projector but remember no lossless audio support(DTS HD, Dolby True HD)
Price approx 6500/-

HTPC is not recommended because MS Windows, Intel , AMD, Nvidia, Kodi, PowerDVD all stopped 3D support.
