HT / stereo setup for under 1 Lac

Hi folks,
I've been reading the forums here for past few days and its fantastic to see a vibrant community of audio/video enthusiasts out here.

I am renovating my living room (~ 10 ft wide x 16 ft deep) and am looking for ideas on receivers, speakers, cdp setup for under 100k. I will most likely split my listening time on HT/DVD vs. stereo to 50:50

One basic doubt I have is if a 5.1 or 7.1 receiver be good enough for stereo?

As per your budget the following would fit into your budget:
AVR: Denon 1610 for around 27K or Denon 1910 for around 37K
For Speakers Package: Wharfedale DM 10.1 BS with Stands around 17K
Center Wharfedale Dm 10 CC around 10K
Wharfedale DM 10 DFS around 10K
Polk Audio PSW 125 sub around 15K
Wires : around 5K
Another 10K you can spend on a budget DVD player from the likes of Cambridge audio model no. DV99 or If you wana go separate route like a Separate CD player then you could find one from Marantz / Cambridge Audio stable and a DVD player from the Pioneer stable.

One basic doubt I have is if a 5.1 or 7.1 receiver be good enough for stereo?

Depends on your taste and/or budget, if music is your preference go for a stereo setup (amp + 2.0) first. You can then get a AVR with pre-outs and the rest 3.1 speakers and integragte both of them.

Q Acoustics 2000 Series is expected by Nov.End, and is priced same as Q Acoustics 1000 Series that is Rs.58,000 for 5.1 Package, for normal finishes and Rs.64,000 for the Black/White Gloss Finish.

I think cambridge audio 5.1 is available for 45 without avr, u can get avr and hook those up.
