Is there a HDD > 1 TB (bus powered)

Friends,

1) Has anyone come across a bus powered (no external power needed) external HDD more thatn 1 TB. If yes, please inform.

2) If no, I am planning to purchase below mentioned HDD (currently out of stock), will cost about Rs 5600.

Please guide if I can get it cheaper anywhere?

2 TB drives are available in India now for about 6K. You need to add a 3.5 inch external casing and you will have a external HDD. The model number is Seagate ST32000542AS. This is a 5900 RPM drive.

In terms of powering, this depends upon the computer or device you are connecting to. If the device supplies enough power through it's USB, you are safe. Else you have to power the drive separately.

I think kapilg is looking for USB powered devices which are 2.5 inch HDD ,Right?

I don't think there is any USB powered HDD more than 1 TB... max available is 1 TB..

however 3.5 inch external powered HDDs are available for more than 1 TB size..

there are still issues with 1.5 and 2 tb drives. the failure rate is a lot higher than normal. i just got me a 1tb one.. dont want to loose data..

seagate 1 tb. 7200.12 for 3k+tax from sp road. its 3.5" (desktop hdd)
