Is there any surround encoded transmission in India

Most movies are recorded in dolby digital and other surround technologies. It can be transmitted as atleast as dolby surround which takes only 2 channel track. The movies are transmitted as 2channel stereo anyways, so whats the problem with these people to transmit at least Dolby surround encoded signal. At least people who use avr can decode the dolby surround. Others can continue with stereo or mono.

why these DTH and digital cable operators keep us away from what the movie sound engineer wants us to listen to.

If DTH guys transmit Dolby Surround (even if it is 2.0) only, then we need a decoder to listen to the same, not everybody in India will have one. If you are looking at an extra 2.0 channel along with the normal 2.0 stereo sound, then they need extra bandwidth which I think is the bottleneck for Indian DTH providers.

There is no EXTRA 2.0 channel required. With dolby surround encoded signal the info of surround channel is embedded into the right and left channel. So a person without a decoder will continue to listen to the stereo output. The people with Dolby surround decoders will be able to get one more channel ie surround channel.
