what if you object to grunge and the seattle sound in general? I prefer Morph the Cat by Donald Fagen to test speakers. But ya it sounds decent on most setups, but on a good setup it sounds really special.

I know what you're sayin man. i too use something like this! Inevitably, the first track to go on for me, while testing, always is 'do it again' from Steely Dan's Can't buy a thrill...

How loud a speaker will go without stuff breaking seems a pretty poor test of a speaker. Just think of those PA speakers at weddings, pumping out rubbish sound at ridiculous volumes!
