JBL control 1 Foam reedging

Hi Guys,

my JBL control 1 needs Foam reedging. Foam has withered away. I was looking for options to refoam it and there are refoaming kits available for $15. It is a 5" driver. Can i use the locally available Foam for re edging? would it impact the tonality in anyway ?

Hi,
Don't worry !. I have original American make replacement surrounds for JBL Control 1. It's a one piece gasket and foam surround ring. (See attached pics for details). Local foam ring will not be of the required dimension and profile.:sad: The resonance will change with the local surround ring with different stiffness and roll profile.:sad:

I have the original replacement surround's sourced from the US, with me right here in Kolkata India.

Hi Guys,

Finally Got the foam from my friend. But he messed it up while carrying. Glue tube broke and foam struck to the cover in which it was kept. Salvaged to extent and used it.

Control 1s Sound lot better with these new foams. In case if this is working Vivek is offering JBL control 1 edges as well. So i am good at this point of time.

I know I am responding to an almost decade old thread. Any chance any one in India has the foam repair kit? I am looking to fix my Control One speakers v/s replacing them.

Looking for a place to get the surround foam replaced for Control-1s in Hyd. Any inputs will be helpful.
Also open for DIY if any kits available, do let me know if anyone has one or the source I can get them.
