Just ordered the Onkyo TX-NR708

Hi Guys after a lot of researching I just ordered the Onkyo 708 on amazon.com for 669USD(with shipping) and having it shipped through Borderlinx.
Just a little nervous about the shipping as its my first experience with Borderlinx. Any inputs?

Thanks. The networking ability make me choose the Onkyo over Denon and Marantz. Looking forward to some good content from the internet radio. Also the current models of Onkyo seem to have earned some rave reviews. As I had posted in another thread, went on to buy the Dali Ikon 6 speakers and am hunting for surrounds and a centre for the setup.

Was keen on going for a compact 5.1 setup to add to the towers, like the Kef KHT3005 or Definitive Tech. Pro 600, however ppl seem to suggest that I shd stick to the same brand for balance speakers..whats ur take on it?

hey just a quick one on borderlinx
when the guy from the dhl shows up with the onkyo, he might ask for money saying that it was charged as duties. like many others from the forum, i just told them to take the product back in that case (since borderlinx already charges for this)
apart from that, borderlinx is really great.

Is the charges paid inclusive of customs? What is the amount paid for duties?

I paid Rs16757 as shipping an duties all inclusive. The guy from DHL delivered it and freight n duties were mentioned as pre paid. While I have also used eBay geb, I'd rate the borderlinx experience far above the geb as dhl was far more professional than the delivery of geb. Also I'd prefer buying the product from amazon as compared to a vendor on eBay.

16.7k paid to Bordelinx - shipping charges including duty. Dont remember the break up for the 16.7 k.

intl warranty is waste my friend .. You are better of buying in grey market save some money and spend a lil incase of repair/service ...

Firstly its very expensive and our local service guys make us go thru hell to get something done even after having that warranty. Speaking from a friends experience with his laptop... :sad:

I agree completely, its really a waste as the service guys here do not really understand the meaning of "International Warranty". For them anything which is not purchased from them is a grey market buy and will be subject to additional and premium charges.

In another thread some one mentioned that couple of months back the mrp was 80k(less discount?). I reckon it shd be much lower now.

Hoping to buy the NR708 myself, costing around 38,000 from borderlinx (can probably mark it up by 10 -15 %). How has your experience with the receiver and dealing with borderlinx been. Any idea how much would the receiver cost in Mumbai. Called u pone dealer listed on the Onkyo India website, who said this model is not available yet.

I'd not suggest borderlinx. They seem to be misleading us by their low quotes on the total cost calculator. Also their support is pathetic and most un-informed. I have read some good things about
ICC World
though have not tried their services personally. By the way borderlinx is also currently delaying the product by a week approx, stating that they have 'unpreceeded high volumes'

And good selection too... the networking and the PC connectivity capability are really awesome in ONKYO NR series compared to DENON and MARANTZ.
Just one question, how long it took for the shipment?

on what basis you are saying thsi?
there are instances where card going kaupt and repairing cost is in the region of 15-25 K..

so any first hand expereinces of AVR servising?
and expereince of intl warentee? one of our members WDTV ( bought from US) gave some issues. WD India picked it up from his home and REPLACED it!
I and my friends got similar services from hp laptops ,unavailable parts are replaced by higher specs parts.
