Dear All ,

I have recently purchased NR 609 with KEF 2005 5.1 speaker set. I am having problem with Sub woofer . There is no sound coming from the sub woofer .

Sub woofer power indicator is green and volume set to max . Cross over freq is ~60HZ .

@ NR 609 sub woofer selected YES

During audyssey setup I could hear sound all 4 speakers , noting shows up from sub woofer . same is with while checking calibration.

I have tried factory reset @ NR609 but no use .

Kindly let me know how to check my sub is working fine and what could be the issue ?

Thanks in advance .

Check your connection twice!

I had a similar experience with my Paradigm CT70. Not sure whether KEF has a LFE input. If you do, try connecting that to the 609. That worked for me.

KEF sub dosnt have LEF i/p . it has L/R input . I have connected to AVR with Y splitter & RCA cable . I have tried with different cable , but no use.

AVR has option LPF to LFE , i made it by pass . Not sure what am i missing to confing it .

Set the crossover higher than the current 60Hz. A setting of 60Hz means only the sounds with frequencies lesser than 60Hz will be output from the woofer. Set it higher. Usually, 80Hz or 100Hz is the recommended value. There are also setting for phase on the subwoofer. Try changing that too and see if the output improves.

Set the crossover settings in the subwoofer at maximum and crossover settings at receiver at 100 Hz.

I tired with high cross over and different phase settings . but no response .

Is there any way to check sub it self ( w/o AVR) if it can actually produce any sound ?

Connect headphone out from your music player or mobile and send a test signal. Or touch the RCA cable pin using wet finger. You should hear a thump sound.

In that case have it checked by a technician and return it immediately if found faulty for a replacement.
