Klipsch RF82 speakers

I am interested to know performance of Klipsch RF82 speakers. How they sound in low, mids and highs? specs shows they are very sensitive speakers. what is the suitable amplifier? my interest is only music (all type of music) so I would be happy to get two good quality speakers and suitable amp.

Klipsch Rf82 speakers are very sensitive.I will have option of using any low power vacuum tube amplifier also.

I am using RF 82 for the past 10 months and the performance is excellent in high low and med. Yes, they are very sensitive. i am using this as front speakers in HT set up using Onkyo TXNR 3007 amp and as main speakers with Fatman tube amp with 18 watts/channel output.
The performance with tube amp is much better than with Onkyo HT amp.

i used to own a Klipsch RF3 many years back, its very important to have the right amplification for them. any amp which does the first few watts well will run them well..you do not need more than 8W for these babies to rock your brains.

any Tube amp or Pure class A SS amp will mate very well with this.

the best option you have is Lyritas amps in india..

Klipsch has a showroom in Lavell road and their listening room is the best that I have seen in Bangalore. I would suggest giving them a visit. I had been there in Dec '10 and listened to quite a few speakers including the RF-82s. They were excellent but not the kind I was looking for (I wanted bookshelves and something less expensive). I am new to Hi-Fi, so I wouldn't try to describe the SQ in technical terms.

The floor attendants were very nice and let me listen to their equipment even after they realized that I wasn't going to buy anything from them.

While you are there, you can give the palladiums a listen For a measly 17lacks/pair, they produce some really good sound.

Please suggest if any other similar alternative. i mean speakers with same sensitivity level. I am interested in driving them with low power pure class A SS or tube amps.

Hi dear anm

I was busy last 2 days, yesterday evening only I saw your posting in the forum.Sorry for the delay in answering
Initially I was removing the speaker wires from one amp and connecting to other, but it turned out to be not practical always. Then I tried using 2 pairs of 2 way switches to manually change every time I change the amp. But I felt the sound quality is dropping.
Third time I connected a electric relay switch with 14 leads, which automatically changes from onkyo to tube amp when I switch on tube amp. It was working perfectly without any manual switching but again the sound quality was dropping.
Now the present set up is , I have fixed 8 nos of banana plugs in a wooden plank and connected (soldered) all 4 pairs (of both amps) of wires to them. Then used 4 banana plugs connected to speakers wires to connect to each amp and shift them manually whenever I am switching between amp. We can connect one banana plug at the back of another banana plug. I made use of this facility. Now there is absolutely no drop of sound quality, only draw back is shifting the connections manually, but considering all parameters this is not a big problem.
Hope you understood the details. I will post the snap of my present set up later since I am in office now.

I tried monitor audio. but I didnt like the sound. I havnt heard klipsch. but based on reviews, I am betting on them. I found price in US is just $599.
I listen all kinds of music. indian, western, classical etc..

I doubt if Klipsch can do good for classical type of music... But they sure are fit for metal :licklips: .. Indian prices are so darn expensive. PM denom he knows a dealer in mumbai whoz having some collection of Klipsch speakers . May be he can find you some deal..... Lavelle road showroom prices are top of the sky.

Have you auditioned PSB , Paradigm Monitor and Wharfedale diamond series?

You should pay a visit to ARN and meet Sridhar if possible. There is a brilliant Usher speaker called the X718 which should meet your requirements and is in your budget.
