hi
i am looking for floorstanders in the 50k range for music and movies both, i usually listen to electronica, guitar and other instrumentals, hindi songs etc i can only buy online as i do not have the privelige to listen or go for auditions, currently i am interested in wharfedale 230s anyone listen or any experience with that? i had kef q300 with marantz pm6004 although i adored the sound signature of kefs but found the bass lacking for my 15 by 25 ft room and found that rock instrumentals didnt give me that feeling, in soaring solos in rock songs the guitar part didnt come forward nor it had the grit although this was rectified with rolling treble forward but still wasnt satisfatory. so i would please like suggestions for the most bang for buck floorstanders.

would'nt be going for polks unless i get a good deal.how are these mx5 compared to others in the same price range?

I dont know how much the Wharfedale 230s would satisfy you coming from the Kefs. In my opinion the Q300s are a notch higher than the Wharfedale's.
If you found Q300 lacking then to get what you are looking for you will need to spend more than 50. Dali Zensor 5 (preferably 7) is a good option but perhaps you can look for some used speakers for better quality.

Yes am looking for used speakers as well, the q300 lacked bass i realized i need floor standers , also it didn't play well at low volume listening level which i think the whrafs 230 can do. Will the zensor 5 play at full spectrum at low volume? How hard is it to drive the zensor 5 vs other similarly priced speakers as that also concerns me?

@Cervi, For the price range around 50k, u can also check for BIC America DV64 one of the top rated FS produces enough bass and clarity in mids and Highs with below spec.

If your room is less than 180 sqft don't go for Mission MX5. They will bring your room down. Mission is comfortable in a 200sqft and above. It's good for rock but I have sold it and got a Usher V602 which is even better!

Dear friend, while selecting Floors standing speakers for myself, I have audition almost all speakers in the range of 40k to 100k and rank them as follows
1. Paradigm Monitor 9 - 85k
2. Elac F5 - 65 k
3. Wharfdel Diamond 240 - 63k
4. Wharfdel Diamond 230 - 43k
5. Dali Zenser 7 - 65k
6. Tannoy Mercury 7.4 - 65k
Wharfdel Diamond 230 sounds a bit monotonous and flat but twinkling the AVR/Amp can make then lively.
Major advantage is that , these speakers are placement friendly. Can be place close to wall. Audition is must ,if you wish to purchase. Diamond 240 over come all the short coming of Diamond 230 and goes more deeper in low end but are 4 ohm rated so needs powerful amp/AVR. You will never regret if you purchase either of these speakers but audition is must. Have not purchase yet, but will definitely go for Diamond 230 and Diamond 225c for Center. Waiting for audition of BA A360 and MA MR6.

Kef Q300/Q500 both are musical speakers and have very strong center image. You will almost feel that there is a center speaker in stereo listening but seriously lacks the bass extension. To overcome this you can add a good musical Subwoofer like Polk DSW Pro 550 or Wharfdale SW 150. This will not only reduce the load on amplifier but also give you freedom of speaker placement and you can use your existing setup.

thanks for the review hopefully you can update your experience with ba a360 and ma mr6 its surprising you rated tannoys and zensors below wharfdales as many FMs here like these speakers, further more many speakers available in india are overpriced, i am being suggested bic america speakers but they retail for 128$ and very overpriced here
Taga harmony are well reviewed in polish and quite vfm maybe but they don't look good imo

Have audition Wharfdale Diamond 230 and Dali Zenser 7 simultaneously with Denon AVR x2200. Zenser 7 seems to be a bit louder and brighter than Wharfdale Diamond 230 at the same time Zenser 7 cost 20k more than Wharfdale Diamond 230 .Have audition Tannoy Mercury 7.4 and Elac F5/F6 with Denon AVR x4000. Elac F5 sounds way ahead to Tannoy in any respect but due to low sensitivity 85db , Elac needs a powerful amp to bring best out of them. Tannoy Mercury v4 sounds better than Tannoy Mercury 7.4.

I have put up my Q Acoustics 3050 floor standers for sale. I really liked the sound. Advertised on this forum and on hifiads. Let me know if interested.

Not sure what you are trying to do here especially since you like these. Suggest you take it slow and look for suggestions before taking drastic steps :).
What's the new amp you have (as indicated in the sale thread) and what is the power output? Amp power higher than the speaker specs can be a good thing.
Also what did you find lacking in the Jolida?

What did you find lacking in q3050? I found them very responsive and accurate, they can easily compete with any speaker of 1 - 1.25Lakh price range. It'd be pretty helpful for us to decide...

thats good review was hoping tannoy 7.4 would be an improvement over v4  which sound signature you liked more comparing whrf230 znsr7 and tannoys? are whrfs punchy and dynamic enough for edm, dubstep etc?
