looking for floorstanders under 50k

Not sure what you are trying to do here especially since you like these. Suggest you take it slow and look for suggestions before taking drastic steps .
What's the new amp you have (as indicated in the sale thread) and what is the power output? Amp power higher than the speaker specs can be a good thing.
Also what did you find lacking in the Jolida?

My new gear is shown in my signature - Bryston SP 1.7 preamp, Cary 200.2 Power amp and Martin Logan ESL.

Yes the Jolida + Q Acoustics sound was good, but the new combination of pre + power in place of integrated sounded more refined, had better focus, image and stage depth. The Bryston/Cary combo costs nearly 5 times the cost of the Jolida and this is reflected in, though not directly proportional to, the SQ.

Higher amp power can be a good thing, but I preferred the electrostat sound to the sound of dynamic speakers. Having said that, I did hear several more expensive dynamic speakers in the process of auditioning, but my Q Acoustics compared very well with more expensive speakers, including PSB, Quad, Tannoy, PMC, ELAC, KEF, among others.

You will appreciate though, that there is a bit of subjectivity here.

What did you find lacking in q3050? I found them very responsive and accurate, they can easily compete with any speaker of 1 - 1.25Lakh price range. It'd be pretty helpful for us to decide...

I guess my response to Naturelover in this thread addresses your question too. True, the Q acoustics can match dynamic speakers many times their price, but I was overwhelmed by the sound of electrostats, particularly because I listen to a lot of jazz and classic rock (the electrostats may not be the best option for fans of Kanye West and Beyonce). And Pune is not so harsh on electrostats!

I really like the most is Paradigm Monitor 9 . You will get most of the things which speaker should have. Very balanced sound and little emphasis on low end but again these were connected to equally capable receiver Anthem MRX 510 so how they will perform with midrange receiver is a ?. Second is Elac F5 , will never go wrong with these AJ speakers but requires sufficient space at back side and huge power. If you compare between WD230(43k),Dali Z7(63k) and Tannoy Mercury 7.4(65k) , I will go with WD230 for warmer sound signature and very good price to performance ratio

Some points to note that will help you make he correct decision. Sometime we try and address a problem and end up getting stuck in an upgrade circle.

1. Are you listening with the speakers firing along the 25ft wall or the 15 ft wall and what is the listening distance between you and each speaker, the speaker and the wall behind it, and how far is the back wall behind you.

Music is a function of the speakers integrating with the room. So if you are sitting in a null spot you wont get the bass impact that you are looking for.

2. You amp is a 6004. It was built to be beautiful sounding. It isn't a power house. Listen to it at a moderate volume and it will sound beautiful. If you are pushing the amp into distortion, no speaker will solve your problem. A bigger speaker will only make it worse as the amp will run out of current. You may want to consider adding a cheap power amp to the marantz to enable you to have more headroom. In the old days Pulz made a decent 100W and was cheap too.

3. Now down to your speakers.

Do you listen sitting down and focussing on the music or do you walk around the room?
If you walk around the room you need background music, rather than an audiophile setup with the speakers spaced out well, etc. Higher wall mounting ensures you get reinforcement from the backwall and ceiling and is a trick to boost the bass. Of course this throws out all of the qualities we look for as an audiophile but if your looking to 'feel' the sound then this is a good easy way to cheat to get impact. Forget about soundstage, frequency balance, etc if you do this.

4. What CD player are you using? Are you using the Marantz internal DAC? How have you hooked it upto the CD player if yes?


5. Other options if you want to upgrade the speakers. Though eventually you would need to upgrade the amp.

Dynaudio Emit 10/20 - these are bookshelfs but play beautifully. They have a lot of weight in the sound. You room is reasonably big though so read reviews before you decide as you can't demo them.

Any other floorstander from a known brand (PSB, Wharfedale, Polk, Monitor Audio, Q Acoustics, Elac) <50K will make a lot of noise. Stay away from brighter voiced speakers or they will irritate you when played loud.

Precisely, Paradigm Monitor 9 blows most of the competing speakers in the price range out of the park. I found them much better sounding throughout the audible spectrum over Monitor audio bronze, Polk RTI a9, Kef Q900 & most of the Wharfedales under 1L budget. I'd prefer the complete package offered by Paradigm 9 over Rethm Bhaavas ; needless to say they'll be equally good for movies as well. Somehow I don't see much deserved praise for Canadian brand in a otherwise European and US dominated market.

Very good suggestions there, just for completion sake ; Room acoustics - >DACs - >cables should be improvised before upgrading the floor standers.

Very njcely elucidated, the thing with me is i would be using the speakers emanating air from the 15ft side of the wall, listening distance would be 8-10 ft, i can't give too much backspace to the speakers, now the difficult part i like 'listening"in all of its manifestations, i love critical listening sometimes, i love the texture when chris botti whispers in his sax, i love getting startled by the sudden attack in tin pan alley , time and again i love rockin out to some ac/dc,metallica who doesn't? I like to keep my ear drums updated with whatever new is released by mr. A.r. rahman sir and amit trivedi sir, i like to follow different channels on YouTube to get to listen to whatever is happening in modern music,indie rock, underground techno instrumentals, i love listening to guitar instrumentals, cello instrumentals, a lil dash of opera i like throwing parties sometimes and have to bear chittiyan kalayyain wey and yo yo honey singha! I like to paint with soft background music playing as it's less tiring and music can be inspiring, usually i wouldn't say this, it's been six years since the accident, 4 years since i sold all my guitar gear but have found a new love in high fidelity, demo is not possible for me i don't travel much and kinda get annoyed when people advise you to do so partly because i have read too much partly because i think the person just needs an answer about your opinion.

Based on what you have said you really need a big big amplifier. The startle factor is only there when you have power due to the swing in dynamics and control over the frequencies. Since you need to use the system for partying as well you can't go the low powered amp high sensitivity speaker way.

So go with any floorstander that you like but according to me having more than adequate power is crucial for you to enjoy the music. You will also need a decent source or you simply wont get the micro dynamics like breathing into the sax etc. Suggest you plan your system purchase. Start by buying say the speakers, then a power amp then a source. Look for used amps on the forum. Sometimes good stuff does show up.

I haven't heard the Sonodyne stuff but they did try their hands at making a decent entry level floorstander a few years ago.
