Hi Folks,

I'm interested in this Marantz AVR and looking for pointers where I can purchase Marantz AVRs in Pune. Can someone please share any info?

thanks - Neo.

I think almost every HiFi dealer sells Marantz in Pune. Try AVExcellence on Dhole-Patil road, Rohit Enterprises in Shukrawar Peth, Aquarius on East Street etc.

May I ask why specifically this AVR? Do you already have the speakers to go with it?

Hi Friends,

Thanks for your response.

I'm trying to setup a 2 or 3 channel system in my living room. I will be connecting this AVR to a PS3 and display will be a LED TV.

My main usage will be almost 60-70% music, maybe from a USB too, and remaining for movies.

I earlier planned to go in for a Yamaha receiver, b'cos as per my experience, Yamaha sounded better for music media. Denon scores over rest for movies.

When I further researched, I found Marantz also in same space and probably a better choice for music.

I have some space limitation in sense the cabinet where I will be placing this component might not have enough ventilation space with a normal sized AVR.

When I chanced upon the 1601, and checked the form factor I knew this was it.

I will be using Paradigm Cinema CT110 speakers( 3 of them - front left center). Since it is living room I didn't want to go in for an AVR with higher output. The NR1601 with its 50W output seemed fine.

One query -

Would it sound better if I connect usb stick with mp3 on the AVR or if play them via the PS3? My thought is it should sound better when i connect to the AVR(which has a usb port), but I would like to know from others experience.

Any special reason for opting flat AVRs like Marantz NR1601? Space constraints??

Gotcha!!!

Never heard of 1601, but its a Marantz, so you are assured of a quality product. Power output will be a issue, but as you say 50 wpc is enough for you, you can vouch for it!!

Best of luck.
