Media streamer and server for HT setup

I got hp n36l for 12k

tapped on Note II cdma

This server seems like a good idea, did u face any issues with HD or Blu ray playbacks ?

Playback is super. I have had to tweak a little for sound over hdmi in Linux.

If you plan to use windows, its a breeze really

media player=10w*24h*365d/1000*Rs.6=Rs. 525.
Rs. 800 extra over a year or Rs.70 extra per month.

I haven't turned off my HTPC since I have installed it for the past 4-5 months.

I don't mind the power consumption and plenty have proved that it's no problem to run it 24*7 so an HTPC it is.
I have a budget of around 12k with a ssd as boot drive, and a 2tb hdd for storage is excluded.
I want smooth HD playback and 3D and blu ray playback so that means HDMI 1.4
So help me pick the specs.
