Micca OoO - yay or nay?

These Micca speakers are underdogs I feel, never heard the center speaker but loved the bookshelf RB42.
This is a very good setup for starters:
4 bookshelfs and 1 centre can be had for around 35-36k - https://amzn.to/34ge6Zr & https://amzn.to/3HsN1At

That said, Taga 5.0 package used to come under 30k that to with two 3 way FS but now prices have gone north.

I have got a retail quote of 27.4k for all 5.0. sounded like a good one for a beginner like me with a Toslink Amplifier.
Toslink Amplifier? Do you mean a receiver since you are talking about a 5.0 setuo? I would suggest do not get anything that does not have HDMI inputs.

More likely the OP means his pioneer vsx 817 that has analog + spdif + toslink inputs. No HDMI inputs.

Receiver... amplifier... whatever. Mine would act as an amplifier more than serving its video component.

The RB 42s in my opinion are good to an extent. You cant expect them to go really low and perform bass duties. I have heard the Bookshelf speakers and if paired well to a good amp they will sing well, decent for their size.

If investment in speakers is going to be a long term deal (say upgrade post 5 years or so) then see other brands and options. It should not be an impulsive purchase to be regretted later. Take your time and then call the shots!

It makes more economic sense to buy something which you will still be able to utilize when you do your "final" setup with Denon 3700 with expensive speakers.

I got the Micca OoO as surrounds for home theatre set-up. They are great value for the money and I personally wouln't mind using them for all channels in HT. I did enjoy them in stereo set-up given my receiver is still pending. For beginners, they are perfectly fine but RB42 are better for stereo which can later be used as Front in HT. But it would be truly waste of their potential if used as surround

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
