MKV to Avi video convertor

Hi Guys,

I am doing R & D since long time to convert MKV videos to AVI with 5.1 sound. I have downloaded so many softwares and tried this, but converted AVI videos plays well on PC only and dont play on my philips HTib system. So can you guys suggest me some proper software to do this without loosing 5.1 sound..?

Iam looking for a good s/w converter that can convert avi to mkv, avi to divx or from any format to any format. Please suggest a good s/w for a free download.
