Murthy's Cables ( tools & trades ) bangalore

I too spoke with Mr Murthy and he is going to ship two of his power cables - for my Marantz amp and CD Player. He said right away that he will ship them and I can test them before I chose to buy them. Till date nobody hasn’t returned his cables.

He is a true gentleman and a rare human species in these days of throat-cutting commercialisation.

I’ll post my feedback once I have the cables after proper burn in.

You surely meant nobody has returned his cables?

Took a plunge today and ordered couple of Power cords and couple of speaker cables.. Spoke to Mr. Murthy and he reassured if I don't like the cables, I can return anytime..

Now waiting to get it and test on my power amp and speakers. Will keep the group updated..

That's untrue ; I did return his power cables 3 years ago , but then I was looking at much higher priced ones. I don't have any experience with his current power cables.

Having said that, his power cables are much better than the branded cables twice in price. He's a genuine, gem of a person with impeccable craftsmanship, its always a pleasure to deal with so I might consider reordering if needed.

Went ahead and ordered a power cable from him. I know if one is running a good quality well made power cable worth 20/30 USD then upgrading the power cable has no effect on the sound signature and if it is its all placebo.
However a well made power cable under 2000 is always handy and comes within what I think one should spend on cables.
Lets see if it does a good job of being a good power cable.

Received my power cable yesterday.
Physically and Visually the cable looks decent and well made. Like any other 20/30 USD power cable that you find on Amazon USA. I am unaware of the specs of the cable but was told the thickness is 2.5 sq mm. I requested and paid for a 16 Amp plug, from crabtree. Will have to wait and see if the pvc jacket and sleeve hold the test of time.
Audibly, it performs as I expected. It made nay a difference to my audio output/quality/separation/treble etc etc. My system sounds exactly the same but then even the Shunyata that someone once lend me sounded no different.
It would not have as I knew power cables have no role in audio quality as long as you have a decent well made power cable to start with and since I have been doing this for a long time now I am aware that placebo is a strong force when it comes to audio output and new/different equipment.
The question remains, to keep this or send it back.

This is intriguing. Few members have found moderate to significant improvement in imaging , bass etc while others haven’t found any change whatsoever using the power cables.
Cant be a placebo for everyone who experiences a difference, while it is possible that others were already using good stock power cables to start with. There are so many variables from system to system that it’s impossible to determine what will work with something and what won’t.

Waiting for my cables - at least Mr Murthy has kept the option to return them which is more than one could ask for in this hobby in this country.

Just a personal experience suggestion to everyone , when buying the cables make sure you decide on the right length. Anything too short , it will easily pull low weight equipments behind and anything too long will result in nightmares in managing the wire.

That aside, the RCA cables are really good. I had gone for a demo , first used Amazon Basics and then later we used a pair of RCA from Murthy and difference was like having a different set of speaker with much more energy in the treble region , punchy and tight bass.

There are 2 types of speaker cables available with Mr. Murthy, 400/- per meter and 600/-. Which one you guys suggest and why. I intend to use them for my fronts and center.

I’m already using RCA interconnects by DAC. Frankly in my room I don’t have any issues with the sound I’m getting on my B6.
Do you recommend trying out Mr Murthy’s ICs ?
How are they priced ?

I have never tried the DAC interconnects , but the amazon basic RCA sound very bad. Murthy's interconnect sound way better.

You can get them at 1850 a pair excluding shipping. Good thing is mr.murthy allows you go return them if you find no difference

Does he also make a RCA to 3.5MM interconnect ? for my headphone amp

Received two power cables today. First tried only on the Marantz CD player as advised. Can’t say there is a night and day difference - I don’t have golden ears, but I feel there is a tiny bit more sparkle to the sound in the upper midrange. Did A/B with a familiar track.
Cant say this isn’t altogether placebo.

But the cables are very very good quality , built to last a lifetime that’s for sure.

Okay a furthur update :

After I plugged in the power cable in the amplifier , I have felt a change in the bass response . It’s bit hard to describe the change - a slight but noticeable reduction in boominess as well as in the ‘attack ‘.
(I’m aware these are unscientific and very relative terms ).
But this was noticeable unlike the effect on CD player.

I described it to Mr Murthy who said I need to give it minimum 100 hours to burn in.

Will post impressions post burn-in.

I was also suggested to give it a 'minimum' 100 hours of burn in.
I am not an advocate of the process of burn in and do not indulge in it normally but I am going to give in to his advice since he is the maker of the cables. He should know something that I dont.
I am quite sure nothing will change for me in next 72 hours but I have nothing to lose.

Exactly, two days back I received the Speaker Cables for front stage (he suggested that it should be sufficient). The Cables are solidly built, Banana Connectors are tough and insulated. I will wait to hear any difference in sound quality because I am only into Movies, in any case the cables are worth the investment. At least a peace of mind that my setup isn't missing anything on Speaker Cables front.
