My DIY ported Xplod sub for my Home

hi folks,

i had recently picked up a 12 inch Sony Sub REALLY cheap. since i already have a sub in my car, i thought "why not use it at home... all ill need is a ported enclosure"

here how my last sunday went.

we worked out the dimensions and designed a ported box. it should be tuned at about 40~42hz.

this design is better because ill be using this just for the sake of it in my room using a low power amp. hence more SPL using low power, the better.

Tools we used to get the job done. thanks to a friend for getting them along.

The Port - made of PVC pipe from the nearby hardware store

the El Cheapo Woofer... JUST loud enough to shake my room loose...

got and its finally in my room.

as of now, i havent got an Amp yet. ill just get a regular cheap 2 channel amp or a low end second hand mono (just hook it up to my inverter battery and were good to go).

we tried it out in my room and even did the crawl to figure out the best location. will post few more pics once everything is in place.

Have you decided on the exterior finish ?

How about using a el cheapo Plate amp or a really cheap Professional PA capable of a 4 ohm load

thanks...

as far as the exterior is concerned, i was planning on carpet, like the ones i use on car Subs. but they will gather dust at home. hence some nice sun-mica would look nice.

however, the main thing to do now is get the amp and finalize the location.
