Hi Fiends,
After completion of my Jean Hiraga 30 Watt Super Class A Amplifier there was a need for some good Speakers. The Floor Stand Speakers available were too damn costly for my budget. So i went for some cheaper option. I selected Car Audio speakers from JBL 6.5 Inch 2-way Model No CS762SI, with Power Handling capacity of 75 Watt RMS rated at 4 Ohms. (you can search them in google)
I decided to use two drivers in single enclosure & wire them in series to make it 8 Ohms, I didn't feel the need of Cross over because they already have it inbuilt.
It seems to be very difficult task to make an enclosure for car speakers due to lack of driver parameters. Thanks to our forum member and my friend Aniket once again for his help on this project. Luckily I had my hands on his Parcel which he had ordered from US through our member Mr. Shailesh This Instrument can can measure the Driver Parameters. Its called Dayton Audio DATS V2 Computer Based Audio Component Test System I got the driver parameters by using that hardware. So the frist step towards my goal was completed. Now i had the driver parameters on hand. Below are the Parameters of same.
Once Again i needed his help to get the right enclosure design for these drivers. So i handed over the parameters to him and he did a very good design. The Outer Dimensions of Enclosure are 1065 x 220 x 355 mm (LxBxH) IT had 2 Vents of Size 100 Dia x 200 mm Length. Below are the some graphs related to Amplitude Response, Cone Displacement and Vent Air Velocity.
Its now time to get started with my built. It took 2 Sheets of Plywood having Size 7ft x 3ft. I am sharing some Images below of my Project step by step.
I completed the Enclosure 2 days back and tested them, I must say they do really sound good and may out-perform some of Professional make speakers. I am really Happy with the results. I do not have any instrument to measure the actual response. But with years of my listening experience i can say this enclosure is capable of delivering the frequencies which are below 50 Hz. It has a good control on every frequency. The Bass is not Boomy or loosy, it is Smooth, the Mids & Highs are also very clear. Over all i can say is Bass, Mids & Highs are very well balanced. You cant say lows are little lower or Mids are on High or the Highs. I mean everything is just Flat.
Now I am thinking ,weather to color them or use a veneer, I think Veneer will look too good and it will give my enclosures a professional look too. So I will move on with Veneer, I don't have experience using Veneer, so I will get it done from Carpenter.
Will Upload Finished Enclosure Photos later once i get it Done.
