New Transmission Line BS speakers using Dayton Drivers

Finally the speakers are completed today evening with all the crossover tweaks completed, subjective listening completed and to be in accordance with my design philosophy. Objective measurements will be done later in the day when ambient noise is a bit tolerable.

Since i only make to order if time permits, there is no limit to how many speakers.

Yes its the same one spiro heard. But there are two more minute tweaks applied to remove the shout at the midrange at high volume levels. Now the mids are more balanced with the lows and highs.

They indeed look very nice Hari. If it is ok by you, can you share the details of the box and xover design.

Box is an advance TL box with shorter but thicker length tuned to around 66Hz. Dimensions i have shared in the previous post. Raw box images in the first post.

Also crossover is first order with crossover at 1930Hz (Butterworth). Details in first post. Will have to measure speaker again for the final outcome.:)

Thanks for the PM.
A novice question here, the depth of the speaker at 15" is quite a bit for the height of 19". Is it technically possible to increase width and reduce the depth, if it is only internal volume that is in consideration for a right design?
Thanks

Yes, I a TL design more than the volume of the box the cross-section area and line length matters more. If width is increased the depth can be reduced to keep the same cross-section area.

Hari, Is there any difference when the drivers are close to each other or far apart?

I have given the details of this in my first post. The distance between the woofer and tweeter center is 7" which is also the wavelength at cross over freq 1930 Hz. The best placement for this speaker is to have the center point between woofer and tweeter at ear level in your normal listening position. That way the speaker sounds like a full range driver, with excellent sound stage and live performance.

Good. Then I would suggest you to work on that design. Say, height at 19", and with the width increased resulting in lesser depth. The speaker dimensions now should emulate certain 'classic' offerings from Harbeth & Spendor.

Hari sir, I have the Dayton Rs100-8 4 inch drivers (8 ohm) along with the Dayton AMT tweeters (8 ohm).
Can you suggest me an enclosure size to use them as surround speakers.
Sealed or ported?

Thanks

All thanks to Mr. Hari Sir for these.

1. Packaging was rock solid.

2. Speakers are too beautiful.

Got these beauties....will update this thread accordingly with further impressions and review... when/if time permits.

Early impressions, tight and precise bass....enough said....no lingering around or in to the mids at all....

Clear vocals but it has been tuned to devoid of any clinical sign like screechhhhhh. Mids are soothing still very crystal clear, treble is wow, can hear the details which was audible before too on my other speakers but this time I do not need to pay my attention towards hearing those details. My ears do not need to work at all to hear those second/minute details.

These speakers are free of positioning issues, means you don't really need to toe in to hear those precise treble details....so off-axis response is excellent. It wasn't this good with my other speakers.

Soundstage is wide, deep still need to play with the optimum position to get the things better, will try keeping carpet on the floor and see....

Ohh let the pics do the talking.......
