New Year Audio Thread

Thats true but I chose this over wav for its ability to embed albumart in each file. So that even if I reorganize, everything works fine. this file fornat works very well for my appletv but then I am not able to use these files on network, and not able to use better dac inside my oppo 95.

Actually I converted everything to aiff from flac using trial version of dbpoweramp. It is a good sw and I can pay for it.

Oh relocating? When? All the very best in the new assignment..
Hi George it is likely to happen in a month or two.
captrajesh, I hope my new year includes meeting up with you several times before you leave Chennai, which I will be sorry to see happen.
Sure Thad, considering that you would be free (relatively speaking) post Chennai Music season, we should be able to squeeze in a few meetings easily.

Captrajesh, this is a big blow to the Chennai HFV scene.

Trivandrum, on the other hand, can look forward, for starters, to great meets, if they are not having them already!

Best wishes to all and very Happy New Year
The forum has been an amazing place to be while on the net.

2013 has been very eventful
-Moved from Bangalore to Ghaziabad. Gave away all of my old gear except Sansui AU317,
-Acquired some good gear. Some which that I could only dream of, some which I never thought of.......,
-Pampered with flavors of tubes to choose from - DHT pre, EL84, EL34, GM70. Courtesy - Lyrita Audio,
-Met very knowledgeable and kind FMs, sharing their experiences and advice and
-Finally the relocation and tight budget gave me an opportunity to get my hands on a Baleno (Guess would be last on anybody's list). Just did a run across Rajasthan all the way down to Ahmedabad. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Looking forward to in 2014
-Acquiring a pair of GM70 monoblocks provided vitamin M permits,
-Hopefully add a DAC,
-Stop listening to the system. Listen to music, lots of it....,
-Continue to explore northern India,
-Learn some more of Hindi and
-and of course do all the possible driving I could get to do.

Regards

:o Don't give me all the credit Thad. Organising meets is all about team effort and we could organise meets because of enthusiastic FMs like you and of course with the active support of Srinisundar, Rajiv and also Murali_n.

Thinking of selling all of my bulky gear right here and starting afresh around the GR Research speakers at Trivandrum.

Oh very true, and no disrespect to those hard-working and imaginative guys --- but the small, core team is still loosing an invaluable member.

What about the DIY projects under your table?

Time for this ant (of IEM world) to sneak in a post in the land of giants (of mega buck systems).

2013 - Didn't spend much. Bought a few IEMs towards the end of the year.

2014 - Re-posting my resolutions already posted on TE

I do not believe in making New year resolutions because our minds are incapable of changing just because of the change in the year. That said, I do have some goals for 2014.

  1. I will be more prudent with money. I hope to reach the savings and asset allocation targets I have set.
  2. I will prune my audio inventory to a level where there is still enough variety in terms of sound signatures, but not a mind boggling amount of choices.
  3. In connection with #2, I will finally put up that sale thread.
  4. I will try to fight more against my temptation to buy anything and everything that piques my interest. Anything I buy either should offer an upgrade or should replace one or more things in my inventory.
  5. I hope to achieve that feeling of content, which I have achieved with my home theater, with my portable / transportable setup as well. If not this year, at least within the next three. That way, I can concentrate on the content, not the gear.

I have lined up (and allocated cash for) a few things over the next two months. After that, I won't spend a buck until goal #1 is met.

Wish you all a ROCKing 2014. :)

I'd be shifting out of Chennai, most likely to be Trivandrum.

I've planned to build the GR Research 5.1 kit within this year and may be the F5 or F6 too.

Wish me good luck guys.

I'm assuming this means you're sticking with your Cadence speakers for now ...
All the best for the New Year!

How about it Thad and others?

Always up for that, big or small. Enjoy the music, enjoy the gear, enjoy the social life :)

(as long as we have security, on the door, confiscating all copies of Hotel California!   )
