A measly 42 inches just won't cut it any more. I'm dreaming big, man :ohyeah:. I want to watch movies the way they were intended to be seen. I need a projector! But I have a few problems...I don't have a huge budget. I don't have any relatives in the US. I don't even have any friends in the US. I don't have a credit card (to order from Amazon). And I don't want to buy second hand. So the only projector which I can get my hands on locally is the Epson 550 for about 50K. Now that is too much money for a outdated projector. Are there any older epson models which I might get cheaper? Or any other brands/models I can look at? Need 720p and HDMI. Kindly shed some lumens...

When I bought my Epson pj, I found that its price in India was similar to the US price so was definitely VFM.
Do you have a debit card? amazon.com does accept debit cards as well and ships pjs also to India. For example, the well regarded Benq full HD 3D W1070 has a landed price of Rs 67,000 (US price $740). amazon.in price is Rs 85,000.

I had purchased recently optoma HD25e from Amazon and it cost me 63k locally available at + 100k .Delivery regular and delivered in 7 days.it was a amazing experience thanks to HFV members. :clapping:

60-70K is too rich for my blood...50k is about as far as I can go...but now there is another problem. Tried contacting acer India...sent 3 emails....no reply. Called a few acer people....they couldn't even speak proper english and had no idea what models were on sale in India! At least the epson people knew English! Seems like acer has useless customer care in india....might have to abandon my projector dreams altogether

On snapdeal site Epson EH-TW550 IS available at Rs..55600 and some Acer and Benq are also available at good price.

Well the Epson TW550 is available locally in Bombay for 52K. But its really not worth more than 25K....May have to look into DIY...

Couple of months back it was only accepting CC. Will check now once again. Anyways got help from a relative to use the CC and get myself Acer H6510BD. That time Amazon was selling for $599 and landing cost for me was INr52000. The viewing experience is 10 times better than theater especially in 3D. Cannot be more satisfied.

Optoma HD131xe full hd projector from Amazon.com for $665 (got $100 gift card free) around INR 47k with free shipping (using shipandshop to get it delivered to dubai and than carry it india later this month) so will cost another 2 3 thousand rupeed so 50k for a full hd projector+$100 gift card is not a bad purchase I think

Just saw that the Acer 5370BD is available on Newegg for $399. But they do not ship to India. What's the best parcel forwarding service? Is ishopinternational the best? And how much would it cost to use such a service? Please let me know if I can dare to dream...

Well caught hemantji. But my claim stands true....as of now I still can't but it from the US....Newegg doesn't ship to india.

A quick google search of shopandship raised quite a few red flags...stories of damaged boxes and missing items!!! Can't trust these guys with such an expensive purchase....

Couple of days back, I saw an epson projector at Reliance digital, Phoenix bangalore at around 30k. I believe it even plays USB.

Buy from India's official online dealer!
