I have a Q Acoustics M20 HD which is connected to my TV via optical cable, a week ago they suddenly stopped producing sound while watching a movie.

What works:
  1. Speaker mode indicator on top of the speakers.
  2. Speaker mode light responds to remote button press.
  3. All modes (this shows different color light for each mode).
  4. Bluetooth connection to phone.
  5. Volume up-down response on the light.
  6. USB connection shows on the laptop.
  7. Basically everything except they don't produce any sound.
What doesn't work:
  1. No sound from speakers.

What I have tried:
  1. Connect/disconnect from power source.
  2. Reconnect the optical cable.
  3. Keep them powered off for 2 days and then reconnect.
  4. Play via USB.
  5. Play via Bluetooth.

There is no sound what so ever. Basically, everything works apart from the sound from the speakers.
These were purchased more than 2 years back so out of warranty.

I would appreciate if someone could suggest me next course of action to get them working either via some sort of DIY or official/local repair.

TIA.

This is the reason for why not to buy active speakers 🔇
Hey, thanks for the suggestion, I would love to get those speakers repaired if I can.
But in the worst case, what would be a good setup to compansate for what M20 HD was able to do.
My primary use is movies and then some music. Budget is below 50k.

Show them to QA service or a trusted technician. If they are totally dead then you can plan your upgrade

Update on the service of the speakers:

I sent M20 to the local authorized Q Acoustics service center, and after checking they asked for 22k to replace the entire circuit. I found it too high to repair a speaker system which costed me 31k new.
I asked them if they can do some circuit level work and repair the circuit, they said they can try and I'm still to receive any update on that.

Update:
I got M20 HD converted to passive, it was very simple, on the active speaker unit, the speaker wire was disconnected from the Amp and connected directly with the terminals which go to left speaker. Left speaker is already passive. This should be equivalent to 3020i if I'm not wrong.
Also ordered wiim amp, will test it once I recieve it.
