Initial impressions
Hi friends thanks for reading my post.
I am a stereo guy and most of the times I spend my time with stereo listening.
i had my eye on the oppo 105 from long time and waiting for right time to catch a good deal. But the eBay prices are not coming down.
Luckily one guy is selling a mint condition oppo 105 with region free hardware mod.
I requested one of my friends to collect the piece as I was away from his place.
My friend visited his house paid money and collected the item.
I had to wait 03 days more to get the oppo in my hands.
Yesterday I received the oppo 105, ooh man its packing is very big, bomb proof packing.
Its packing looks like a mid range amplifier.
Removal of packing is a breeze. Very nice packing material, reusable.
Connected to my system.
I am not yet using the balanced connectors; I am using normal rca cables.
The system consists of
Oppo 105 to Philips AH280 two channel pre amp to PS audio GCA 250 Power amp.
Most of my tracks are in hdd, connected the HDD to one of its usb port.
Oppo instantly recognized the contents and displayed on the screen.
One of my favorite songs are AKON right now na na,it having a good bass content,
I immediately noticed the separation of the instruments, bass seems to be much tighter and the high frequencies are much cleaner.
I already used oppo 83se,so its definitely an upgrade ,but the difference is marginal,not toomuch.but the ease of use with media control app and all the format support makes it as my reference player.
The build quality is outstanding. really heavy for a player.so far I checked the player capabilities by connecting a flash drive and hdd through its usb input.
Testing as a standalone usb will do a couple of days.
So far its making my day,excellent depth of music and I am enjoying more.
