Hi people,

Which of these two projectors is better? About the GT1080 projector, is the replacement lamp available in India? And regarding the mirror on the PF1000UW; it looks rather delicate and it does not have any cover for it. Will this cause a problem in the future?

Owners of either of these two projectors are requested to kindly provide any inputs and observations regarding these two projectors.

Regards.

that is official optoma india price stated. no idea of the link you sent

pretty much similar as stated but dependent on power stability and not frequent switching on/off

I was given to believe that the lamp would be somewhere in the range of 12k.

Anyway, the lamp life is advertised as 8000 hours in Eco mode. How many hours (in eco mode) can one realistically expect to get out of a single lamp?

This site does not sell genuine parts. They mount OEM bulbs in slightly cheap housings. The bulbs themselves are usually from the OEM manufacturer however like Ushio and so on. Which is why its cheaper.

Thanks for replying. Does this mean that the parts will be less reliable than the genuine ones which cost more than twice as much? They offer a 180 day guarantee.

Reliability is more or less the same. However I did notice the colours being slightly off. It is possible that their colour temperature check for the bulbs isn't as stringent as the original manufacturers. And anyways I'm not sure how much of a problem this will be for you. If your not using a highly calibrated system it may not matter. Besides colour temp of even the original bulbs will shift after 2000 hours or so making that 8000 hour rating of optoma a bit ridiculous. Sure it might work that long but the brightness and colour will not be the same as it was in the start.

BenQ has also got a similar projector...UST1600..saw it at What hifi....also Viewsonic LS830

I came across another option which, on closer examination, seems quite tempting. The model is LG PH450U. This is another ultra short throw LED projector from LG. However the resolution is only 720p and the brightness is only 450 lumens. But it will produce quite an acceptable picture in a dark room. Another advantage is that it has a rechargeable battery which provides over 2 hours of battery backup. And unlike the PF1000, the lens is not exposed but has a glass cover so that it can be easily wiped.
Options, options, options...............
Does anyone own this particular model or had any experience with it? Any inputs will be much appreciated.
