Hello Friends,
Any one using this PJ for 120 inch diagonal screen size in 16:9 format?
Can you please let me know the distance from Screen from the projector and if mounted from ceiling the gap between the ceiling and the pj?
Any one tested the Super WIDE OPTION... ?

I am using 141x on a 16:9 120 inch at about 14 feet. However u dont need a user to determine the required distance. Just download the model's user manual. It gives u the entire table of what distance is needed for what screen size.
Ceiling gap is about 1.5 feet. But Again the gap is not what determines it. Its the tilt angle of projector in which u finallly tighten the mount screws. Depending n how much it is tilted towards screen, next will come your keystone adjustment from remote as the more the tilt, the more ur perfect square will get distorted. To correct that distortion u ll need to use Keystone adjustment.
And yes I have used superwide and its not for me as it fills the image but crops the image on the sides (For 2.35:1 movies). Personally for me no compromises works on the original image. I am rather happy to leave a part of screen unused to retain the integrity of the original image than kill the director's vision by watching cropped image.

You can use the screen size calculator from Projector Central to determine this for your model.

You can either use the Image size slider or the Throw distance slider to get the results. :cheers:
As per following calculator, for 80", throw distance is 9ft.

Can I increase the throw distance to 11ft, still use 80" screen?
I tried zoom out (reduce zoom), but i see picture reduce size, but gray shade in outer area.
Any way i get whole image perfectly as i see without zoom option?

For such questions like i already said above, the best is download user manual and go to optoma's own table for the distance and screen size. It give lower and upper limit of flexibility that one can have in keeping the screen size constant.
As far as i remember, the flexibility is not more than 1 to1.5 feet. Thats one limitation this being a biginner level model. Any higher cost Proj gives more placement flexibility

The ideal thing to do is when you setup your screen, position the Projector at the appropriate throw distance to get the desired screen size.
Normal procedure is
1. Check the amount of Throw distance you have in your room
2. Based on this check with the Projector model, what screen size you would get given your rooms Throw Distance.
3. After this you can decide whether to go in for a Short throw projector or not.
4. Fix the projector in the appropriate location which gives you the best screen size with minimal or no Zoom adjustment.
Ps: In my case I wanted a shorter Projector mount, so I ended up cutting the extensible arm and fixed it

Today evening I have received the parcel from DHL having Optoma HD141X along with a yellow envelope containing the invoice. The invoice which is attached on the face of the envelope indicates custom value as Zero. Inside the envelope amazon has sent only the invoice where the product price and freight charge's are mentioned.
I have prepaid custom duty of around 13k at the time of payment to amszon. I have contacted DHL for duty paid receipt but they told me that it will be given to shipper I.e Amazon and Amazon will give it to me if requested. I need to know what exact amount has been charged by our customs.
Does anyone faced such scenario ? Should I ask Amazon for duty waiver?
Pls do advice.

IMO.... just send this note (where custom/import duty is showing '0') to Amazon and directly ask for refund instead of asking proof of how much duty was actually paid, you may be lucky and get full refund

Yesterday I tried watching 3D in my Optomo HD26 for first time and preliminary test by watching few clips from Yogi Bear, Avatar, Despicable Me2 were excellent. However i saw in movies apart from Avatar (which is 3dbluray) , others screen frame were extending slightly beyond my 100' projector screen edge. It seems that the menu does not show zoom option which otherwise shows during normal non 3d movies.
The zoom option available in the projector itself is already in 0 position. Any clues, how to fix this apart from moving the projector?
Also during 3d, the picture setting available are 3d & user. While both looked great, default 3D settings were looking slightly brighter for me. I was initially confused withe HOU, SBS, top& bottom etc, but the optomo made it simple to make it understand how it all works.. :yahoo:

Guys i am travelling to US for a month and planning to buy the Optoma HD141x. Should i order it on amazon while there or pick from a store? IMO amazon would have least prices? Also, does amazon have COD over there?

Which part in US. keep in mind that there is some sales tax on CA and few other states. IMO, go and check stores for deal, and if dont get cheaper then order amazon.

but when I place order ..it didtn ask me password for payment & it shows " your order place successfully ..& then says " your order canceled due to decline of payment..i have checked my bank..no issue from them..& its internationally enabled debit card..
does anybody face same issue..please guide me..what to do now?

Exactly after 2 months Amazon.com refunded my Import duties. Initially the customer care guy was reluctant but finally done by some Senior. Previously they also refunded Shipping Charges and gave some other discounts. I have purchased Optoma HD141X and 4 Pack of SainSonic Zodiac 904 Series Active Shutter Glasses. Total cost for me Rs.41699.
IMO that's a steal deal. Thank you guys for letting us know the tricks of getting shipping and duty refund and need to mention Amazon.com Customer service is excellent. Will always recommend Amazon...
I will post my HT build very soon. Just completed my Curve screen with Pine wood.
