CV or Resume: Is there a difference?

Slightly ( sorry fully) out of topic from AV, I come across this in rediff.com... Since many of our members are from IT and more related to USA projects, the said contents in this links shall be clarified. Whether it is right or Wrong and how you have/your comapany has submiited your CV or resume to your abroad client...what is your comment on the same.

In order to Resume, one needs to be interrupted. :)

if you list all the times you were interrupted in life - in order to find a job and move on, then you would get a resume. :D

Wondering what i'm talking about? To give an example -10th std, 12th and college degree exams - they are all interruptions in enjoying life .. :eek:hyeah:

Cheers

hehehe!!! - gobble

there was one guy in our class who enjoyed those interruptions - and loved exams - he is now a professor of physics!

@ srinisundar-

yes - there is a difference -

Curriculum vitae = In the United States and Canada, a CV is used specifically in academic circles and medical careers and is far more comprehensive; the term rsum is used for most recruitment campaigns. A CV elaborates on education to a greater degree than a rsum and is expected to include a comprehensive listing of professional history including every term of employment, academic credential, publication, contribution or significant achievement. In certain professions, it may even include samples of the person's work and may run to many pages.

A CV is what you give in when you apply for an academic position - this will include your (original) previous work in the field that ,you think, qualifies you for selection.

a rsum is what you give in when you apply for the manager post at Best Buy.
