Pay per channel on DishTV

Have not really calculated, but invariably you will find that:

- the most popular channels are very highly priced
- just by selecting 3 a-la-carte channels, the price will exceed the bouquet cost

DishTV is unreasonably expensive here as well. A comparison with TataSky or Videocon D2H pay per channel options will show how exorbitantly DishTV is priced. 2 pay per channel of DishTV cost more than a channel pack of TataSky.

Since I have gotten a new TataSky HD, I am trying to keep DishTV alive without spending unnecessary money. TS is essentially much cheaper compared to getting the same channels on DishTV. I don't get Zee Premiere, Movies Now and Travel XP on TataSky. The question is whether these three channels are worth spending Rs. 150pm? The answer is obvious IMO.

Pay per channel is a complete eye wash by the DTH operators as you have to pay much more from the existing bouquet system......it is only beneficial if you want only one or two channels in your tv.

I think that you need to take a hard look. Dish TV SD packages are way cheaper than TataSky SD. Here is the comparison for the top end packs:

TataSky:
Grand Sports Pack: ................. Rs. 380.00
Sports 3 (Ten Sports): ............. Rs. 20.00
Ten Action+: ....................... Rs. 20.00
-----------------------------------------------
Total per month .................... Rs. 420.00
-----------------------------------------------

Dish TV:
Platinum Pack: ..................... Rs. 325.00
Neo Pack: .......................... Rs. 40.00
-----------------------------------------------
Total per month .................... Rs. 365.00
-----------------------------------------------

The above are comparable packs with more or less the same popular channels. But in Dish TV package you will get more movie channels whereas in TS you willo get channels like BBC Entertainment, etc.

Comparing with lower equivalent (SD) packs, once again Dish TV is cheaper.

However, when it comes to HD, the DishTV package becomes more expensive (Rs. 470 for TS vs. Rs. 550 for Dish).

I am not for or against anyone. I stand corrected on the price. But DishTV channel package prices are inclusive of tax.

I have DishTV. I called them only 4-5 times in last five years. My complaints were resolved within 8 hours. So I have no issues there.

I agree that tatasky has better quality. The UI of TS is the best. In comparison, DishTV STB UI is such that even an Electronics student will do better in his/her college project.

I am not an employee or promoter of DishTV.

just4kix u have mentioned sih tv pricing wrong, platinum pack rs 350 plus tax plus u have to take neo pack at rs 40 plus tax

some people r biased to dish tv, airtel and others and their main motive is to criticise tata sky for nothing.

these companies r sending employees disguised as members to spread false bad rumours about tata sky. thats the deal.

namo narayan, dish tv prices are inclusive or service tax. Platinum pack is indeed at 340 but inclusive of tax and so is the case for neo sports pack as well.

regarding your rest of the claims I really cannot comment, but I guess I was at least able to clear your misconception about Dish pricing.

some people r biased to dish tv, airtel and others
Agreed. Being biased is human nature. Academics is in fact biasing children so that they "fit" in the society the way those who control it want. Enough of philosophy :-).

and their main motive is to criticise tata sky for nothing.

Not fair. People have complained about TataSky on valid points. Some of the complaints may have been inflated, though we can't forget that the original cause was genuine. I too have written for and against DishTV as well as TataSky. I used to be pro-DishTV and I have turned pro-TataSky in recent months.

if something good about tata sky is written, they just come and oppose it, if something bad about dish tv or airtel is written then they say that there is no fault of their dth. ultimately now some dth competitors like dish tv, reliance have send their employees to defame tata sky disguised as members. tata sky does not involve in duping or cheating, now as people r coming to know of cheating techniques of dish tv, reliance and bad service of airtel, these companies r sending employees disguised as members to spread false bad rumours about tata sky. thats the deal.
I'll say that's an extremist and biased view, although I agree that some of the members have been very much biased against TataSky.

thank god that we have a company like tata sky who despite so much bad environment has maintained its honesty and dedication towards customers
Rather than being extremist here, I'll say TataSky's code of ethics has been remarkable. My experience with their customer service has also been good. Operations is a difficult task, so 100% of their customers could not possibly have been satisfied.

I find it hard to believe companies sending their employees to tarnish their competitor's image. After all it's a two edged sword. It makes more sense only to try improve their own image.

It's good to see companies taking a note of Internet forums seriously :clapping:.

Are u telling me?

FYI, I just calculated the prices which are which indeed u made false info abt the price of Dish TV in ur 1st post which I just corrected.

Post 5 wasn't mine. Does following quote look like it's talking either about post 5 or about someone else other than me? Not to mention that you are accusing me of making false information.

We need to ignore most of the acidic comments from "Namo Narayan". he is the same "Dino29" (you could find him buttering TS on FB as well - no prize for guessing :)) who keep getting banned in another forum and still comes back with different user name and spread provocative and SARCASTIC COMMENTS on those who criticize TS for VALID reasons (like we do for all other operators and products).

Wait and you would see him "defending" himself here as well hitting back telling its us provoking him. Most irritating and ABSOLUTELY BIASED person I ever found on a forum.

Yes, Dino all the way! One of the MOST irritating person I ever found on these forums. He has contributed as well, however he really is unbearable when he fails to understand our point and is only interested in defending TS and strongly opposing us.

Thx, prankey.

We all have our favourites and non-favourites. But as honest forum members must be very objective in their praise and criticism.

I am a member/moderator of another forum and we had a member who could not hear anything bad said about Reliance Broadband. Had to ban him multiple times. In that forum too, we get people promoting some product and would simply criticize others. Well, what can one say. I guess we get the good and the bad.

Yeah, that's why we need mods like you :)

Some people are "passionate" about holding other's mouth without any reason if they do not talk as per their liking. If someone negates me on some valid point, I do my best to make him understand my point while also acknowledging his argument. However, people like Dino do not have this basic sense of logic and just want to give a gag order pretending themselves to be another "Hitler" :ohyeah:
